Ringquest - Elves of Emerald Wood
Svartalfheim is a world of mostly desert wastelands. One of the few sanctuaries that exist are formed around Fae Trees, capable of not only surviving the harsh conditions, but also being the foundation where many other trees, plants, and other lifeforms can thrive. These Fae Trees make up the Emerald Green, the Elf Territories. Elves come in various natural skin and hair colors, with no leaning towards one or the other. Dark-skinned Elves can stand side by side with fair-skinned Elves. Their hair colors also run the gambit; while Dwarfs mostly fall into darker hairs with few exceptions, Elves can have wildly different colored hair, some not natural to humans. Same for their eye color. It's believed that being closer related to their Fae ancestry, it makes their genes more.
The Elves live in a matriarchal society, though most Dwarfs have a hard time telling apart the difference between an Elf maiden and an Elf man. This is due to their youthful appearance and androgynous features. Unlike Dwarfs, who age regularly until around their 40s or 50s, Elfs stop physically aging until their 20s and only resume at the end of a long, long life. An Elf isn't expected to live past their 100s due to their constant fighting with other races, any older than that are seen as 'Elders'.
Elves commonly become soldiers, both in their military and in mercenary companies. Many Dwarfs have scars and memories of Elves. Despite their youthful visage, never underestimate an Elf. They are ferocious swordsmen, excellent archers, and are more naturally connected to arcane forces. An unarmed Elf can be just as dangerous as one with a sword...

So, real talk: any of you ever read Elflord? It's a fun comic where 90% of the cast are femboys and our main character is a sword-swinging badass. And, naturally, I styled these elves after some of the elves in the comic. But because of this, I'm kind of going back and forth between making them jokes and punching bags, like in Dwarf Fortress, or making them a legit threat. I guess we'll see how Elflord treats Dwarfs when I pick it back up...
And hope you recognize at least ONE of those Elves. :3
