Bulver (bulk-vare) or Bul for a singular are the terrobirds of which Dogs, Wolves, and Coyotes all became and are another very widespread species of Wildlife found across the DragonScape on every continent and many many islands Bulver are very similar to an animal in our own prehistory, that being terrorbirds. Bulver are large, flghtless, wingless birds that are all beaked and all known to be very fast. Like Dogs they do socialize in Packs that range anywhere from 6-19 individuals and they are quite well built for running, about as fast as drekir but far more agile and able to turn quickly thanks to their knee based locomotion
As for diet
It varies, two of the above breeds are carnivores and one is omnivorous, and one is herbivores so they do vary a lot in diet depending on breed
As for their habitat range. Like I said these are what dogs became, so any place with a large dog population likely has some population of bulver living there in the environment of some population and some situation so you probably would have a pack or several packs snooping around in any given region
so now for breeds
Starting with the Arid Bulver or Bulverpura
Bulver Pura are arguably the most common of the Bulver. they are of a medium size and are known obligate carnivores. IE they only eat meat, thats it thats all they got they don't eat plants, they are here for flesh. It might be insects or reptiles or other feathered birds but regardless they came here to eat meat
They are also the fastest of Bulver that can clock at around 35mph at a full sprint, which makes outrunning them near impossible even by the drekir
then you have the Arctic Bulver or Bulverkal
Bulverkal are the largest and are generally carnivores but do eat whatever they run into, they dive in cold waters for fish, dig up worms from frozen tundra ground and chase most anything through the northern taigas and tundras of the DragonScape
they are pretty strong but their feathers are prized for their warmth
And for BulverFijal
A small breed of Bulver, Bulverfijal occur in Temperate environments and are omnivorous scavengers, eating a variety of fruits, nuts, insects, and will scavenge dead bodies that they come across. They are known to attack particularly easy targets, eat eggs and go for anything that is unlikely to kick back
And finally Bulverjuln
Tropical Bulver like Bulverjuln are small, fabulous, and herbivores. Either suckling nectar from large tropical flora, munching on various local plants and nuts, or fishing up seaweed and algae from local waters! They are dangerous though if you upset them and they are happy to use that beak for defense
Interactions with societies
Bulver are generally considered dangerous or annoying by most drekir societies, raiding food stores and sometimes even attacking local drekir so it is common for drekir to try and kill off local groups that come into their area. The Sivilão are also not very fond of them though usually aren't spending enough time in a region to warrant hunting them down, its just a kill em if you reach them but don't worry too much about it and Bulver are particularly dangerous to Human groups as humans stand out like sore thumbs and, while shooting a bulver works well, their attacks often cause serious injuries that lead to drekification and they have a way of raiding human bases and eating valuable rations
So they can be dangerous but most societies see them as annoying pack creatures
Their feathers are generally seen as valuable though by the drekir, both due to their size and beautiful colorations so it is also common to hunt bulver as food soruces and for feathers Northern cultures particularly value arctic bulver for their feathers as well as they are great in clothing for insulation from the vicious winters of Alaska and Greenland as well as the broader Canada
so yeah dogbirds
