The line between mercenaries and privateers is a very blurry one on the fringe. After the Colonial Authority saw fit to put out a lucrative open contract to several infamous pirate fleets following the fall of Avalon, what had normally been disorganized bands of bandits and marauders found themselves praised as hero's following the hard-fought victory over the Nidhogg. Many found their services in demand by corporations and local governments alike as sellships and guns-for-hire and almost overnight a tight-nit freelancer community had formed. The Hog Squad is once such band, made up of "Ex"-Privateers and 2nd Colonial Fleet veterans who saw action during the Border Crisis. What they lack in scruples, they made up for in greed and grit.
