A couple of "new" old works. This is an entirely new scan of the coloured artwork. The original of "What Did Santa Bring You?" was drawn in 1987, and the coloured version made in 1988. Both were preceded by a more primitive version I sold to a customer for $100. Not a lot of money, but it did go farther in 1987 than it would today. Today I wouldn't piss on a sheet of paper for a customer unless paid $100. Even in 1988 I think I should have been paid more like $1,000. Me? Bitter... surely not?

This is a great piece, but I'm a little puzzled by the dark splotches. Are they shadows, or ink stains, or something else?
At any rate it's also amazing that it's so old! The eighties, that was a long time ago, and we didn't have so many great tools like we do today. I think the shading on the teddybear's hand in particular is amazing, and that car in the foreground.
And yeah, a hundred bucks in the eighties was probably worth five or ten times that today, the value of a dollar has gone down so much.
A thousand for an artwork sounds a bit alien after being in the furry community though, where so many sell their work so cheaply, to stay competetive. Even a piece with such a detailed setting and everything shaded might go for a pretty low price.
And I just realized those spiky bits are the shadows of christmas tree needles. XD
That green bit at the top is a shiny ball ornament they're looking at their reflection in. Brilliant!
