It was no different day than usual. I did what I had to do, and the day went by like crazy. Until that evening. At night, I felt free today, too, after a hectic day. In fact, I thought what's so meaningful about this life that flows like a wheel? I couldn't overcome the urge to look out the window, opened the curtain, and looked outside. When I opened the window from my house, there was a beautiful scenery surrounded by a city in the front and a rugged mountain in the back. However, that day I was eyeing something else. The full moon, which I usually didn't care about, was shining loudly and brightly. And, the full moon was shining brighter than other days. If it was my usual age, I would have watched it for a while, closed the curtains, and prepared to sleep. However, something was off that day. The white moon seemed to call me. I felt like I was being tempted by the moon. I changed my clothes right away and ran out of the house. And, although others might think it was crazy, I began to run toward the moon with no mind.

How long has it been? When I came to my senses again, I had already entered the deep mountains. "Where the hell am I?" I muttered to myself. How long I've been running, I'm out of breath. My whole body was wet with sweat. I looked at the moon once and breathed. I felt my heart beat getting faster and faster. Soon, my body was about to burst, and my whole body began to fever. "Let's take a break." I fell forward. But my hand didn't touch the ground? Surprised, 'What's going on?' I began to look down on my body. My body was growing, trembling little by little. The first areas that began to grow in my body were my feet and legs. My legs, which used to be like chopsticks, began to get thicker. As the muscle fibers quickly split and swelled, my legs began to have more delicate muscles like bodybuilders. At the same time, I began to grow taller, and my body soared into the sky. Unknown tension and excitement surrounded me. When I was able to look down on the ground only when I was lowering my head, the very next step began to proceed.

The next part that proceeded was the upper body. I had the illusion that my body was bursting. The low-pitched growling sound echoed the mountain in the pain of burning the body. My back muscles rose like a mountain and fell over my head. My chest also grew like a playground and pressed my head. I finally got stuck in my muscles and couldn't move. Then what I felt was that my sides were swollen. The lumbar muscle seemed to be thickening. The next thing I felt was that muscles were developing in my arm. My thin and light arms became huge as they swelled up with blood vessels. I can't look around, but I noticed that I'm currently taller than the tallest mountain in the city. I, thanks to that huge moon, became a giant. I'm going to move to the city where I lived. Perhaps because of the huge muscles, it took five times the original speed to take a step. However, I was rather happy because of the huge power I felt every time I moved my body. Whenever I walked, the ground responded to my steps and made harmony. I was already entering the center of the city. Because this time was dawn, most people were sleeping. However, the huge sound I made was lit as if some people were awake. I headed to the tallest building in the city. "Wow, this size?" The largest buildings in the city were only the size of my thighs. I gently put one arm on the building. It is amazing that the building feels like a Lego block. I thought that if I relaxed and leaned on the building, the building would collapse without enduring my heavy body. It's really fantastic, and I don't want to lose this power forever.

그날은 평소와 다를 것 없는 날이었다. 나는 내가 할 일을 했고, 정신없이 하루가 흘러갔다. 그 날 저녁 전까지는 말이다. 밤이 되자, 나는 오늘도 정신없이 흘러간 하루에 무상함을 느꼈다. 사실, 쳇바퀴처럼 흘러가는 이 삶이 뭐가 그렇게 의미가 있겠냐고 생각했다. 나는 창 밖을 바라보고 싶은 충동을 이기지 못하고, 커튼을 열고 밖을 쳐다보았다. 내 집에서 창문을 열면 앞으로는 도시가, 뒤로는 험준한 산이 감싼 아름다운 풍경이 있었다. 하지만, 그날은 다른 것에 눈이 갔다. 평소에는 신경도 쓰지 않던 보름달이 크고 환하게 빛나고 있었다. 그리고, 그 보름달은 다른 날보다 더 밝게 빛나고 있었다. 평소의 나였다면 잠깐 감상을 한 후, 커튼을 닫고 잠을 잘 준비를 했을 것이다. 하지만, 그날은 뭔가 이상했다. 그 하얀 달이 나를 부르는 것 같았다. 내가 달에게 유혹을 당하는 느낌이었다. 바로 옷을 갈아입고, 집 밖으로 뛰어나갔다. 그리고, 남이 보면 미쳤다고 생각하겠지만, 나는 정신을 놓은 채 달이 비추는 쪽을 향해 달리기 시작하였다.

어느 정도 지났을까? 다시 정신을 차렸을 때는 이미 깊은 산속으로 들어오고 난 터였다. “대체 여기가 어디지?” 나는 혼자 중얼거렸다. 내가 대체 얼마나 오랜 시간을 달렸는지, 숨이 턱 끝까지 차올랐다. 나의 온 몸은 땀으로 젖어 있었다. 나는 달을 한 번 바라보고 숨을 쉬었다. 점점 나의 심장 박동이 빨라지는 것이 느껴졌다. 곧 있으면 나의 몸이 터질 것만 같았고, 온 몸에서 열이 나기 시작했다. “조금만 쉬자.” 나는 앞으로 고꾸라졌다. 그런데, 내 손이 땅에 닿지 않았다? ‘이게 무슨 일이지?’ 깜짝 놀란 나는 나의 몸을 내려다보기 시작했다. 나의 몸이, 조금씩 떨리면서 자라고 있었다. 제일 먼저 내 몸에서 자라기 시작한 부위는 발과 다리였다. 젓가락같던 나의 다리가 점점 굵어지기 시작했다. 근섬유가 빠르게 분열하고 부풀어 오르면서, 나의 다리는 보디빌더처럼 섬세한 근육들이 많아지기 시작했다. 동시에 나는 키가 커지기 시작해서, 몸이 하늘로 솟구쳐 올랐다. 알 수 없는 긴장감과 흥분감이 나를 감쌌다. 내가 고개를 숙이고 있어야만 땅을 내려다볼 수 있는 정도가 되자, 바로 다음 단계가 진행되기 시작했다.

다음으로 진행되는 부분은 바로 상체였다. 나는 나의 몸이 터지는 것 같은 착각이 들었다. 몸이 불타오르는 듯한 고통에 저음의 으르렁거리는 소리가 산에 메아리쳤다. 나의 등근육이 하나의 산처럼 솟아올라 나의 머리 위로 넘어갔다. 나의 가슴 또한 운동장처럼 커져서 나의 머리를 압박하였다. 나는 드디어 근육들에 머리가 끼여서 움직일 수 없는 처지가 되었다. 그리고 나서 느낀 것은 나의 옆구리가 부풀어오르는 느낌이었다. 아무래도 광배근이 두꺼워지고 있는 것 같았다. 다음으로 느껴진 것은 나의 팔에 근육들이 생겨나고 있다는 거이다. 얇고 가벼웠던 나의 팔이 혈관과 함께 부풀어오르면서 거대해졌다. 주위를 둘러볼 수는 없지만, 나는 현재 나의 키가 이 도시에서 제일 높은 산보다도 더 크다는 것을 알아차렸다. 나는, 저 거대한 달 덕분에 거인이 되고 만 것이다. 나는 내가 살던 도시로 이동해 보기로 한다. 거대한 근육을 가지고 있어서 그런지, 한 걸음을 걸을 때 원래 속도의 5배에 달하는 시간이 들었다. 하지만, 나는 몸을 움직일 때마다 느껴지는 거대한 힘 때문에 오히려 행복했다. 내가 걸음을 걸을 때마다 땅은 나의 걸음에 화답하며 화음을 만들었다. 어느덧 나는 도시 중심부로 들어서고 있었다. 이 시간이 새벽이기 때문에 대부분의 사람이 자고 있었다. 하지만, 내가 만드러내는 거대한 소리에 몇몇 사람들이 깨어난 듯 불이 켜져 있었다. 나는 이 도시에서 가장 높은 건물로 향했다. “와, 이 정도 크기라고?” 도시에서 제일 큰 건물들이나의 허벅지 크기밖에 되지 않았다. 나는 살포시 한 쪽 팔을 건물 위에 올려놓았다. 건물이 하나의 레고 블록같이 느껴지는 것이 신기한다. 힘을 빼고 건물에 기댄다면 건물이 나의 육중한 몸을 견디지 못하고 무너질 것이라는 생각이 들었다. 정말 환상적이고, 이 힘을 영원히 잃고 싶지 않다는 생각이 든다.
