I've decided to make both Megan and Andrew scientists (a marine biologist and oceanographer, respectively) as a way to explore the potential scientific aspect of mermaids and their existence. Throughout this story, we not only explore their relationship, but both of them explore the alleged science behind mermaids. This chapter has them mull over the possibility of their existence. After all, we humans have explored the surface of the moon more than we have explored the depths of the ocean, so who is to say that mermaids exist within the depths we have yet to explore?
