From a soul energy perspective it might add up, since eating a Being can give you a lot more lifespan than the age of the individual consumed. And the older they are the more energy you get.

Yeah, part of the background for this which is hinted at but not spelled out because it's been done to death in the previous comics, is that powerful creatures such as Niall can steal souls (a trick they utilise for mind-transference to save the dying) but they could also in theory eat someone's soul, converting it to energy which would increase their power and lifespan. Niall is assuming that that's what A-SMV is afraid of because being made of metal, he can't really be eaten in the conventional way.
