Lucy slowly opened her eyes as the sun shone into them, she saw that she and Matt were embracing each other. She tried to slip out of his grip, but the hyena hugged her tightly. “No. Lucy,” he said softly, “You're so soft.”
Lucy felt awkward right now. Just then, Zoe entered the room and was surprised when she saw the two cuddling animals. “Morning,” Zoe said. “You had a good night, didn't you?”
“I feel very awkward right now,” Lucy whispered.
“Let me help you.” Zoe stepped over to Matt's side of the bed and pulled out her phone and started playing some annoying noises to wake Matt up. The hyena reacted by punching her in her belly.
The ocelot got on her knees and groaned. “Morning, sis,” Matt said smugly. He looked over to the other side and saw he had Lucy in his arms. “Um... Morning, Lucy.”
“Good morning, Matt,” Lucy said nervously. The three made their way downstairs to the kitchen table. Matt and Zoe were ecstatic to see the variety of food to eat. Zoe helped herself to some pancakes while Matt had some cereal.
“Thanks again for letting us stay here, Liz.”
“It's no problem,” Liz replied, glancing over at Zoe who had her feet on the table. “Though I feel like we'll need to set some ground rules.” She grabbed Zoe's attention and point at where her feet were at.
“Hey, it's a force of habit,” Zoe said. “I had the first night of proper sleep in who knows how long.”
“Yeah, it doesn't look that bad,” Ron said putting his feet on the table as he ate his cereal.
Liz sighed. “Ron, Zoe, put your feet down.” The walrus and ocelot did so. “Zoe, you're living under our roof now. So, you can't have your feet on the table.”
“Fine,” Zoe groaned. She picked up her pancake and took a bite out of it making Liz facepalm.
Lucy and Matt tried not to look at each other as they ate their breakfast. “You're quiet this morning,” Ron said to his daughter. “Have any weird dreams?”
“Not really,” Lucy replied. “Though I have been thinking about Matt's friends.”
“I've been thinking about them too,” Matt said.
“What were you thinking,” Liz asked as she forced Zoe to use a fork.
“Well, you know I now have magic powers,” Lucy said. “So, maybe I should... Tell them...”
“No,” Matt interrupted.
“Wow,” Liz gasp, “You beat me to it.”
“Matt,” Lucy said, “I was just thinking that if we told your friends...”
“You're secret would get out,” Matt interrupted.
“But I don't want to keep secrets from them.”
“Neither do I, but Rosie has a hard time keeping secrets. Plus, Mira's parents hate having her keep secrets, same with Kia's mom.”
“But it'll eat me up.”
“Same with me, but do you really want everyone to know? You have no idea what they would do.” They heard Zoe and the parents snickering. “What's so funny?”
“Nothing,” Ron chuckled, “It's just... You remind me of me and Liz. You argue like a married couple.”
The wolf and hyena looked at each other and blushed. “I'm going to get ready for school,” Matt said. He finished his cereal and walked towards the closet as the wolf sighed.
“Lucy, you know Matt's right,” Liz said. “You can let too many people know about this.”
“Right,” Lucy sighed.
They continued with their morning routine, with Matt and Zoe now enjoying having a proper shower and clean clothes. Zoe got dressed in her retro wardrobe and drove Matt and Lucy to school. During this, Lucy couldn't stop thinking about her new friends.
“See ya, bro,” Zoe said as she dropped the two off and then drove away.
“See at home, sis,” Matt said as he waved to his leaving sister.
The two walked inside and opened their lockers and took out their books. “Hey, Matt,” Pepper said as she walked over to the hyena. “Sam told me about you moving into Lucy's.”
“Yeah, Zoe and I moved in with the Walters for a while.”
“You look and smell better. Does your shower actually clean you?” The two chuckled as Stanley the zebra walked over to them.
“Hey, trash boy,” Stanley said smacking the hyena in the back of his head.
“Screw off,” Pepper demanded.
“What? It's who he is.” The zebra sniffed the air with confusion. “Is that you?”
“Yep,” Matt said.
“What did you do?”
“I moved in with Lucy's family, so did my sister.”
“Um... I...”
“What's wrong?” Pepper asked, “Forget your brain bill?”
The zebra jock couldn't think of any comebacks and ran off. “Man, who knew brains and brawn are so distantly related,” Matt said, “No offense, Pepper.”
“None taken. Where's Lucy?”
“She's checking her locker.”
Lucy couldn't stop thinking about what she could now do. If she could turn animals into babies, what else could she do? “Hey, Lucy,” Rosie said catching the wolf by surprise. “Sorry to startle you. Why were you so quiet yesterday?”
“I found out about Matt's home,” Lucy said. “It was... Pretty bad.”
“I know. How's he enjoying your new home?”
“Pretty good. In fact, we shared my bed.” The wolf blushed at this.
The seal squealed. “Oh, that's so cute. Have you kissed yet?”
“What? No.”
“Come on, you're so cute together.” The bell rang and Lucy raced off to her classes.
They didn't meet each other again until lunch. Lucy and Matt sat down with each other with their friends. “Hey, Matt,” Sam said. “How's the new home?”
“It's great,” Matt said. “Lucy, thank you again for letting me and Zoe stay with you.”
“No problem,” Lucy replied while blushing.
Rosie began squealing in delight again. “What's with you?” Pepper asked.
“They're so cute,” Rosie said pointing to Lucy and Matt.
“Them?” Mira asked with the seal nodding. Lucy and Matt tried not to pay attention.
“So, Lucy,” Rosie said, “Why were you and Matt so quiet yesterday?”
The wolf and hyena looked at each other with a bit of worry. “I was a bit shocked about Matt's home,” Lucy said.
“But Matt moved in last night,” Sam said.
“It took me a while to figure out if he should move in or not. My mom was a bit concerned too.”
“That sounds understandable,” Kia said. “Which room do you even sleep in?”
“Zoe took the guest room. I slept on the couch... For about ten minutes.”
“Then where did you sleep?” Rosie asked.
“I shared Lucy's bed.” This made the seal squeal even more.
“Oh my gosh,” Jasmine groaned from the other table, “Would you shut up?!”
“Yeah,” said a mouse teenage girl. “She's like, nails on a chalkboard.” She began typing on her phone. “Hashtag, annoying.”
A robin who was applying her eyeliner just rolled her eyes. “Who are they?” Lucy asked.
“The mouse is Angel,” Pepper said. “She's not that bright and I've never seen her without her phone. Nina is the robin, she's all makeup, dress, looks matter, and all that crud.”
“I don't see what the point of makeup is,” Kia said. “No offense girls.”
“None taken,” Mira said.
“Just ignore Jasmine's friends,” Matt said to the wolf. She was lost in thought. “Lucy?”
“Oh, sorry,” Lucy apologized as she snapped back to reality. “I was just thinking about... You know what.”
“What is what?” Rosie asked eavesdropping on them.
“Rosie, can you quit it with the eavesdropping?” Matt asked.
“I'm just curious.”
“Matt isn't wrong with your curiosity,” Kia said, “It's pretty annoying.”
“Your group is annoying,” Jasmine said as she and her friends walked over their table.
“Pretend she's not there,” Mira said to herself.
“Hey, pigtails,” Angel said flapping around with the swan's hair. “Your hair is, like so childish.”
“Don't you have a mirror to look at for twenty-four hours?” Pepper questioned.
“This is too much fun,” Jasmine said. The three mean girls laughed as Matt's friends struggled to ignore them.
“I wish I knew how to use my new spells on her,” Lucy said under her breath.
“So, how's trash boy doing?”
“I've got a new home,” Matt said. “I told Stanley about that.”
“You've still got the ripped jeans,” Nina said.
“Just a sign of his broke sister,” Jasmine joked.
“He was lucky to have a home,” Lucy said. “Do you know that some people aren't as lucky as you.”
“Maybe his sister is, like dumb.”
“Then how are you in high school?” Pepper asked.
“You know 'like' is a filler word,” Kia said.
“It help fills the gaps in her brain,” Sam joked.
“Up high,” Pepper said high fiving her boyfriend.
“Well, I, like...” Angel said before Jasmine covered her mouth.
“Don't give them ammo,” Jasmine demanded.
“Can we get out of here?” Nina asked. “I haven't finished my makeup.”
“Maybe your hair too,” Pepper said, “I really like that cowlick.”
“Where?!” Nina checked herself in the mirror with panic as the lion laughed. The mean trio left as Pepper and her friends continued with their lunch.
“Nice one,” Lucy said.
“Thanks,” Pepper said. “It's pretty easy after a few years.”
“So, Lucy,” Rosie said, “Can we visit your house after school.”
“Uh, sure,” Lucy replied. “Dad said he was going to clean our pool.”
“Yay.”
After school, Liz arrived to pick Lucy and Matt up. “See you later, guys,” Matt said, as he rode away.
“So, mom,” Lucy said, “Do you any idea what I could test with?”
“Test what?” Liz asked. “Your magic?” The wolf nodded. “Ron did buy a potted plant and thought you could turn it back into a seed.”
After getting home, Liz showed her daughter the potted plant which was as long as Lucy's leg. “You sure about this?” Matt asked.
“I've got to test my magic on something,” Lucy said. They moved the potted plant to the bathroom where no one would see them. Lucy held her wand and gave the potted plant a zap from a green beam. It shrank until it was nothing but a sapling.
“Can't you make it a seed?”
“I can't seem to get it any smaller.” There was a knocking at the door. Liz was still downstairs and found Sam and Pepper in their swimwear. Sam's was lemon yellow swim trunks while Pepper had a black tankini with a fire pattern on it.
“Hey, Mrs. Walter,” Sam said. “I'm Sam and this my girlfriend, Pepper.”
“Hey,” Pepper said feeling a little nervous. Suddenly, a young crocodile, who looked to be about five and wore a one-piece that looked like a strawberry ran inside. The little croc had blonde hair that was tied into pigtails.
“Allie!” Sam ran inside and tackled her to stop her.
“Let me go,” the crocodile cried.
“Sam, you're here,” Lucy said as she came downstairs. “Who's the croc?”
“This is my little sister, Allie,” Sam explained.
“Hi,” Allie said as she fought with her brother. “Let me go.”
“Allie, you need your floaties.” The crocodile was forced down as the chameleon placed on her blue floaties. “Was that so hard?”
“Hey, your sister's swimsuit looks pretty cute,” Lucy commented.
“Thank you,” Allie said. “I'm Allie.”
“I'm Lucy.” The two shook their hands as Lucy noticed Pepper acting a little nervous. “Pepper, is something wrong?”
“I just don't feel right around water,” Pepper replied.
“Well, maybe my parents can help with that.”
“Good to know. Where are they?”
“Why do you think I'm here?” Liz asked.
“My mom did tell me about you,” Sam said. “So, is your pool in the back?”
“Of course. He's cleaning it as we speak.” Liz and Lucy walked off to find their swimsuits as Matt walked outside in his canary yellow swim trunks led the three guests outside. Ron was in his white swim trunks and was scooping out of the last of the leaves.
“Hey, Matt,” Ron said, “You brought your friends.”
“Hey, you're Ron, right?” Sam asked.
“Yep. Pool's ready.” Without warning, Allie cannoned balled into the pool. Sam and Matt stepped in with the excited crocodile, but Pepper was taking her time.
“Pepper, you can just hang out in the shallow end,” Sam said.
“Okay,” Pepper said as she slowly stepped down the pool's stairs.
“There's nothing to be afraid of,” Ron said as he jumped into the water next to the boys.
“It is if you aren't a skilled swimmer.”
“We could teach you,” Liz said as she and Lucy stepped out of the house in their swimwear, for Liz it was a gold bandeau bikini and for Lucy a green bikini.
They joined the others in the water and soon the rest of Lucy and Matt's friends showed up. Kia had black swim trunks, Rosie had a lavender microkini, and Mira was the last to arrive wearing a light pink bikini with skirted bottom, and she wasn't alone.
Holding Mira's hand was a milk snake with a copper-red high ponytail with a white bow in it. She looked about Allie's age and she wore a pink long-sleeved one-piece with a purple horizontal stripe on it.
“Mabel,” Allie cheered as she got out of the pool. Mira finished helping putting on Mabel the milk snake's pink water wings so the snake could hug her friend.
“Who's that little girl?” Lucy asked Mira.
“She's my sister, Mable,” Mira explained. They carried on for about half an hour until Pepper stepped out of the pool.
“Hey, Liz,” Pepper said, “Can I use your bathroom?”
“Sure,” Liz replied, “Upstairs and second door to the right.” Pepper got herself dried off and head towards the room Liz told her. When she entered she saw the plant that Lucy shrank a few minutes ago and saw it had two strange fruits sitting next to it.
She curiously picked up one of the fruits which were green. She took a bite of it and she felt weird. Pepper ignored this feeling and used the toilet and washed her hand, but she still felt weird. She placed her swimsuit back on and she saw why she felt weird, her swimsuit didn't fit her.
“What the heck is going on?” Pepper questioned as she tried to make her swimsuit fit. She tried to look at herself in the mirror, but she could only see her head. She was shrinking to 4'1” and as Pepper jumped so she could see herself in the mirror, she saw that her chest was flattening.
“Wait a minute,” she said in a much younger voice, “I'm a kid.” She was, an eight-year-old one to be precise. Pepper squished her now pudgy arms where her impressive muscles used to be. She only took one bite of the fruit and so she didn't think she was in danger, was she?
The lion cub ran downstairs trying not to trip over her oversized tankini as Zoe walked into the house wearing her retro waitress outfit. “Where did you come from?” Zoe asked as the stopped the lion in her tracks.
“Zoe, it's me, Pepper,” the cub answered. The ocelot's eyes widened. “Please tell me I'm dreaming.”
“Show me what caused you to turn into a kid.” Pepper showed Zoe the fruit she ate, but what caught the ocelot's attention was the purple color. “Just stay in the walk-in closet. I'll be right there.”
The worried lion did as Zoe said as the ocelot walked outside to find Lucy. “Hey, Zoe,” Lucy said, “How was work?”
“Fine, just come with me for a minute.” Zoe grabbed Lucy by her wrist and dragged her inside.
“What are doing?” Zoe didn't explain until she showed the wolf the younger version of Pepper, who was still trying to get her tankini fit her. “Pepper?”
“Lucy, help me!” Pepper begged as she was clearly scared.
“What did you do?”
“I ate a green fruit and now I'm eight!”
Lucy thought of where she could've gotten the fruit until she remembered the testing plant. “Zoe, could you watch Pepper for a minute? And make sure nobody sees her.” Lucy raced upstairs to get her phone.
Rosie walked into the house and Zoe closed the closet door to hide Pepper. “Hey, Zoe,” Rosie said, “Have you seen Pepper? She should've been out by now, so I was sent inside to find her.”
“Along with me,” Matt walking up to his sister. “Where is she?”
“Not sure,” Zoe lied, “She could still be in the bathroom.”
“Then let's go up there,” Rosie said as she ran up to the bathroom. Zoe whispered something in her brother's ear and followed Rosie. Matt looked in the closet, he gasped then sighed.
“She's not in here,” Rosie said as she just barged into the bathroom.
“Welp, we tried,” Zoe sighed, “While we're up here, you wanna see my new room?”
Rosie was about to reply until she a green fruit. She felt a little hungry and she wanted to have a tiny snack. Zoe saw this and before she could stop her, the seal had taken a bite from the fruit.
“What are you doing?”
“What? Did you wANt some?” Rosie was taken back by the sound of her voice, it was much more childish.
“Alright, so get here as soon as you can,” Lucy said to someone over to phone before hanging up.
“Lucy, we have a problem,” Zoe said from outside of the bedroom. Lucy opened the door to find that Rosie had shrunk into an eight-year-old.
“What happened?”
“Somebody thought taking a bite of a strange fruit was a good idea.”
“But I was hungry,” Rosie said with a much younger voice.
Matt came walking up the stairs with Pepper, who was now wearing an oversized t-shirt. “Pepper told me everything,” he said.
“Explain why I'm eight!” Pepper demanded.
“Uh... Uh,” Lucy stuttered not knowing what to say.
“Pepper?” Sam called from downstairs.
“Rosie!” Mira called.
Lucy went pale. “Zoe, do something,” Matt ordered. Zoe nodded and walked to the steps.
“What is it?” she called while imitating Rosie's voice.
“There you are,” Kia said. “Where's Pepper?”
“She's still in the bathroom. What did she eat?”
“Nothing out of the ordinary,” Sam said.
“Oh, really? Well...”
“Sam!” Pepper cried as she ran past Zoe.
“Where did that kid come from?” Kia questioned as Pepper hugged Sam.
The cub led Sam into the dressing room where her tankini was lying on the floor. She held it up and Sam started putting two and two together. “Pepper?” Sam questioned. The lion nodded in joy as she hugged her boyfriend, who was twice as old as her now.
There was giggling heard from upstairs which grabbed Kia's attention. He and Mira walked upstairs to find Rosie running around. “Get back here!” Matt demanded.
Lucy tried helping him before noticing the guests. “Uh... Hi, guys.”
“What the heck is going on here?” Kia asked.
“Welp, I tried,” Zoe said.
Rosie raced over to Mira, accidentally tripping. “Hi, Mira,” the seal giggled. “It's me, Rosie.”
“Rosie?” Mira asked confused.
“Zoe, why didn't you stop them?” Matt asked.
“They already saw Pepper,” Zoe answered, “How was I suppose to explain that?”
“Hey, guys,” Sam said walking upstairs holding Pepper's hand. “I found out who this lion is.” All of Matt's friends were starting asking questions, this was too much for Lucy to take. She ran into her bedroom sat against the door.
There was a knocking on the window and saw Glinda waiting outside. She flew in and sat in front of Lucy. “Is something wrong?” Glinda asked.
“I screwed up,” the wolf sighed. “Not even a day with my new powers and I mess up.”
Glinda placed her hand on the wolf's shoulder. “Just tell me what happened.”
Outside, Matt and Zoe couldn't answer what was going on, until Glinda exited the bedroom. Lucy stayed behind the fox as she floated over to Rosie and Pepper. “Hello,” Glinda said, “I've heard you needed some help.”
“You think?” Pepper asked. “I'm not even a tween.”
“Just show me the fruit you had.” Rosie gave a purple fruit with a bite taken out of it. Glinda held it in one hand as she shot a green mist out of her other. She then broke it into two and gave each half to the eight-year-olds. “Now, take just one bite.” The two did so and suddenly grew back to their normal size.
“Ah,” Rosie sighed, “I was going to have fun.”
“Well, could you put on some clothes at least?” Pepper asked. Rosie saw she forgot about her clothes and covered her private areas dropping the berry. She ran downstairs and Zoe followed her.
“So, what's going on?” Mira asked.
“I feel like I shouldn't tell you this because I'll have to erase your memories,” Glinda said as she picked up the green berry.
“No, wait,” Lucy cried grabbing Glinda's arm. “You can't erase their memories, what if you get rid of something important.”
“I'm sorry. It's a protocol...”
“Look, I've known these guys for a while,” Zoe said, “Chances are they'll figure this out again.”
“Glinda,” Matt said, “If you just explained to them I'm sure they'll understand.”
Glinda sighed. “Alright,” she said, “I don't like erasing memories anyway.”
“Please, just tell us what's going on,” Kia begged as he was getting worried yet frustrated.
“It's complicated,” Lucy sighed.
“To put it simply,” Matt said, “Lucy has magic powers. I think her testing her magic on that plant had some side effects.”
“So, it makes animals younger?” Sam asked.
“That's just one of them,” Glinda said. “There's a whole book about it. Lucy has one.” The wolf nodded. “Most of them are normally temporary. With a drink or food being infected the spells last longer.”
“Can you leave?” Pepper asked as she walked back upstairs with her tankini on.
“Rude. Lucy, just give me a call when you need help.” The vixen flew out of the window leaving the teens by themselves.
“So, this is awkward,” Mira said after a minute of silence.
“I think I'm going to head home,” Sam said as he walked towards the backyard.
“Me too,” Pepper said. “I need to... Forget what happened today.” One by one, the friends left the house and headed home.
Lucy sighed as she went to change to her nightwear, which was a set of pear green button pajamas. She laid down on her bed, where Matt was waiting for her in his white shirt and tortilla brown boxers. He tried to hug the wolf, but she refused.
“Come on, Lucy,” Matt said, “They're my friends. They wouldn't tell anyone this. Even if they did, nobody would believe them.”
Lucy sighed as she got up and grabbed one of the books off her shelves. The book was titled, “The Witch's Wrath,” and as Lucy read it, she began to worry more. She placed the book down and sighed, just as Liz knocked on the door.
She walked inside and saw her daughter's expression. “Lucy, don't feel so down,” Liz said sitting down at the end of the bed. “Zoe told me what happened. It wasn't your fault. If you just talk to your friends, they'll understand.” Lucy just tucked herself under her sheets. “We can talk in the morning if you want.” The dolphin walked out of the bedroom and closed the door.
Lucy forced herself to go to sleep. Matt wrapped his arms around her which seemed to make her smile.
The next day at school, Lucy and Matt grabbed their lunch trays and walked over to the table with their friends. Pepper slid away when she saw Lucy. “Pepper, you were the one who ate the fruit,” Matt stated.
“You know, he's right,” Sam said, but he coward when he saw the lion's angry face.
“How can we trust you?” Pepper asked quietly so she didn't gain anyone else's attention.
Lucy didn't respond, but Matt did. “Did she try to erase your memories?” Matt asked.
“No.”
“How about making you younger?”
“Not really.”
“And what did our friend do?”
“Turn us back to normal.”
“There you go.” Lucy simply rubbed her arm but Matt's words helped cheer her up.
“Hey, trash gang,” Jasmine said as she and her friends walked over to them.
The group didn't reply to the mean trio. “Like, why won't they talk?” Angel asked.
“Maybe they finally got like the trashy hyena,” Nina said.
“So, how did we pay for our lunches?” Kia asked.
“Well, you... You asked...” Angel stuttered.
“Just stop,” Jasmine said. “Look, your new friend has been acting weird lately. What's her deal?” Lucy gulped as she began to worry.
“Why would you want to know?” Matt asked.
“Well, one day she's eager to meet everyone, then quiet, eager again, and now quiet again. What's her deal.”
“We didn't do anything to you,” Nina said.
“Yeah, we like barely talked to you,” Angel said. “Are we that good?”
“You're not,” Jasmine said before turning to Matt's group. “I want answers.”
“Why?” Rosie asked.
“Something is up with her.”
“Don't you know when not to stick your nose in where it doesn't belong?” Kia asked.
“Don't you jump in.” The horse walked over to the worried wolf. “What is your deal?”
“Buzz off,” Matt said pushing Jasmine back.
Jasmine growled. “Don't make me get my boyfriend.”
“Go ahead, I've been training at my dad's gym,” Pepper said.
“Well, Stanley is one of the best school athletes.”
“Oh, look, it's the principal.” Jasmine quickly got scared and ran back to her table with her friends.
“Thanks, Pepper,” Lucy said. They continued with their lunch until the bell rang. Lucy headed towards her locker, as Matt got Rosie's attention.
“Hey, Rosie,” Matt said, “Can you come over and help with Lucy's thing?”
“Sure,” Rosie said. They carried on with their day like normal until school was over.
When they got back to her house, Lucy was reading the book Glinda gave her. Matt was doing his homework when they heard the doorbell ring. The hyena went to answer it as the wolf hid her book. Rosie was waiting at the door, along with Sam, Pepper, and Allie, who was now wearing an orange shirt under an overall dress, walking towards them.
“Hey, Rosie,” Matt said. “You ready to help with the thing?”
“Sure am,” Rosie answered. Matt could see Sam, Pepper, and Allie walking towards the house. “Oh, they could help too.”
“Help with what?” Sam asked as he walked up the hyena.
“Just come inside and upstairs so no one sees us,” Matt said. They walked inside and followed Matt and Lucy upstairs into the wolf's bedroom.
“This is a nice room, Lucy,” Rosie commented.
“Thanks,” Lucy said. “What are you doing here anyway?”
“I'm trying to help you get over your worry about this magic thing. You did look at the spells to reverse it, right?”
“I was reading that now.” Lucy showed them the book of spells and Allie tried to see what was inside, but it was sealed shut.
“Why won't it open?” Allie asked.
“I think only I can open it,” Lucy said as she took her book back and placed it in the side table drawer. “So, who wants to go first?”
“Me,” Rosie cheered. Lucy nervously reached for her staff, as Matt held her hand. She took a deep breath and zapped the seal with a green beam. Rosie got younger and younger as her clothes became too big for her now, except for her underwear which automatically shrank to fit her. The seal threw her clothes to the side and she started giggling.
“She looks like she's Allie's age,” Matt said.
“I feel so hyper,” Rosie cheer as she started jumping up and down. Allie was surprised by what just happened.
“Is this real?” Allie asked.
“Yep. Tag, you're it.” The seal started running around the bedroom as the crocodile gave chase.
“Okay, Rosie, calm down,” Lucy said. “I have to try and turn you back to normal. I have to make sure I know what I'm doing.” Sam and Pepper managed to catch Rosie and Allie tagged her.
Rosie walked in front of Lucy, who shot another beam at the seal. Rosie grabbed her clothes as she grew back to a sixteen-year-old. “Wow, that felt weird,” Rosie said.
“How did it feel?” Sam asked.
“It felt like going through puberty in seconds.”
“That's what Zoe said,” Lucy commented.
“So, Lucy, what else can you do?”
“Well, I've just read on how to progress ages.” She took another look in her book and found some rather weird spells. She found some spells that had to do with clothing. “What kind of clothes do you want to wear?”
“Shrink me again,” Rosie said.
“What?”
“Then you make my clothes fit me.” Lucy thought for a moment and did what Rosie said. After turning her back into a toddler, she then zapped her clothes to make them a cute lavender dress with stars all around the skirt as her flats shrank to fit her new size. Rosie tried on her new dress, “Oh my gosh, I look so cute.”
“You sure are.” Rosie started jumping and leaped into Lucy's arms.
“Thank you, Lucy. I can have so much fun now.” She grabbed her phone which had fallen out of her skirt's pocket and texted her friends to come over to Lucy's house. She then opened the door and walked over to Allie and poked her nose. “You're it.”
The two ran out of the room and raced downstairs as Lucy looked at Sam and Pepper. “You wanna join them?” Lucy asked. Both of them nodded.
A little while later, Kia, Mira, and Mable, who was wearing a sweet lolita dress, arrived at the Walter's house. “Why did Rosie text us to come here?” Mira questioned.
“I'm not sure,” Kia said as he rang the doorbell. “Though her English is pretty bad.” Kia checked his phone to find Rosie's text saying, “Kom oovr too bels hows.”
Matt answered the door and quickly pulled the guests inside. Kia and Mira looked to see Allie and Rosie running around. They could also see Sam and Pepper were playing pretend. Pepper was wearing red onesie pajamas that made it look like she was a dragon, while Sam had a light yellow pajama onesie that made him look he was a robot. What really caught their attention was that they were a lion and chameleon toddler respectively, and were also Allie and Mable's age.
“Why are they kids?” Mira questioned.
“That'll be me,” Lucy said walking over to them. “Before you ask, I did get their permission. You have to admit, they look pretty cute.”
“Feel my fire,” Pepper roared as she stomped towards Sam.
“Dragons can not hurt a robot,” Sam said, “Shock Fist!” He play-punched the lion who pretended to get hurt.
Rosie walked up to Mable. “Hi, Mable,” Rosie said cheerfully, “It's me, Rosie. Wanna play?”
Mable was confused but was soon excited. “Can we play princess?” she asked.
Rosie looked up at Lucy who held her wand in her hand. “Stay still,” she said as she hit Mable with a beam. Mabel's dress turned into a pink ball gown and a rose gold tiara appeared on her head. The same thing happened to Rosie's dress, except her's was lavender.
“Wow, thank you, Lucy,” Rosie cheered.
Mable took a look at her new high heels. “This is amazing,” she cheered as she and Rosie started jumping up and down in excitement.
“So, you got control of your magic?” Mira asked.
“Sure did,” Lucy said. “I honestly thought I was going to turn her sister into a dress. So, do you wanna join them?”
“I'm not sure about this,” Kia said.
“Oh, come on,” Sam said as he stood over the 'dead' dragon. “It's fun.”
“Yeah, join in,” Pepper said before going back to playing dead.
Mira started getting interested and agreed to Lucy's idea. She was standing to close to Kia as Lucy hit her with a magical beam. In mere seconds, Mira and Kia had regressed down to five years old. Their clothes were now too loose, but Lucy fixed that by turning them into a pink ball gown and tiara and Kia got a grey and black prince uniform, complete with a crown.
“Yeah, we get to play princesses,” Mable cheered.
“Make me a knight,” Allie and Sam said in unison walking over to Lucy.
“Okay,” Lucy said. She zapped them, and their clothing turning them into knight costumes.
“I didn't agree to this,” Kia said in a much younger voice.
“There's no time,” Sam said, “The dragon is heading towards us.” Pepper roared as she raced towards the princess, prince, and knights. Allie and Sam picked up two pillows and used them as shields as Pepper pretended to scratch at them.
“Run,” Rosie cried grabbed the prince and princess's hands and ran upstairs to hide in Lucy's room.
“Are we safe in here?” Mable asked.
“I think we will,” Rosie said. They heard some cackling as Lucy opened the door.
“Come now my beautiful dragon,” Lucy said, “The princesses are in here,” Pepper growled as she stomped into the room. She chased the girls and Kia around the room until Allie and Sam ran into the room with wooden spoons, wielding them like swords.
“Step away from the princesses,” Allie cried swinging her 'sword' at the dragon who had the princesses cornered. Sam meanwhile attacked the witch wolf.
“Down you witch,” he cried. “You were the one who created the dragon.”
“So, you found out,” Lucy said as she held her wand high. “Matt, take care of this knight.” Matt came running into the room and tackled Sam to the ground.
“Take this,” Matt said as he tickled Sam without mercy. The chameleon laughed as Lucy couldn't help but do the same.
“Having fun?” Glinda asked as she entered the room, startling Lucy. “Sorry, I was just checking how you were doing.”
“Lucy's amazing,” Rosie cheered. “I haven't felt this much energy in forever.”
“How long will this last?” Kia asked.
“Age and clothing spells?” Glinda questioned. “Spells from Lucy should last up to twelve hours.”
“Do you want to go back to normal?” Lucy asked. The panda prince nodded and she zapped him, first with a beam to turn his clothes back to normal, and another to turn him back into a sixteen-year-old. “Sorry, I got carried away.”
“Lucy, why don't you shrink yourself down?” Mira asked.
“I'm still experimenting.”
“Good idea,” Glinda said. “I can send you notes if you want. Just be careful.”
“Hold on,” Kia said, “What if our parents figure out something is up?”
“Don't worry, I have a friend watching out for you.”
“Who is it?” Matt asked as he let go of Sam.
“My friend told me to keep it a secret. Like what Lucy can do now. Now, I must be going. Let me know if you need any help.” The fox floated away as the kids ran past Lucy back downstairs.
“Well, this weird,” Kia said.
“I think it's cute,” Lucy said. They walked back downstairs to continue to play with the kids. One hour later, Mira's mom texted her that she needed to head home.
“Lucy, can you change me back?” Mira asked. Lucy nodded and turned the swan back into a back to normal, with her clothes changing back as well.
“Aww,” Mable sighed, “But I wanna stay and play.”
“I know sis, but we need to go home. We can do this again sometime.” The two held each other's hand, as did Kia who wanted to head home too, and they walked away. Soon, the rest of their friends headed home too, Lucy turned them back to normal until it was just Lucy and Matt.
Liz and Ron entered the house to find Lucy reading one of her books as Matt went back to watching TV. “Hey, guys,” Ron said, “How was your day?”
“Pretty good,” Matt said. “Our friends were over for a bit and we help Lucy with her magic.”
“How did you do that?” Liz asked.
“We turned them into children,” Lucy said realizing how weird that sounded. “But we changed them back.”
“Oh, you got that under control,” Ron said. “Proud of you.”
“Well, Matt helped me out. I was honestly scared about what would happen.”
“You never knew what would've happened until you tried,” Matt said.
“That is true,” Liz said. “Thank you, Matt.”
“No problem. So, how were the parents.”
“They were fun,” Ron said, “Though I wish Derek was more of a talker.”
“Yeah, not sure why he's like that.” Matt looked over at Lucy. “Hey, Lucy, you know that homecoming is tomorrow night?”
“Yeah,” Lucy said, “Why do you ask?”
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The next night at Berkton High, everyone was in the cafeteria and was wearing their formal wear. Matt's friends were all hanging out while wondering where the hyena and wolf were. “You think he's going to show up this time?” Sam asked his friends.
“Don't think so,” Jasmine said as she walked by with her boyfriend Stanley.
“Does she have anything better to do?” Kia questioned.
“Probably not,” Pepper said.
“Hey, guys,” Matt said walking over to his friends. They were shocked to see the hyena was wearing a fancy brown suit.
“Wow,” Mira gasped. “Where did you get that?”
“I helped out a bit,” Lucy said as she walked over in her green ballgown. “I had a little trick.”
“You look so amazing,” Rosie commented.
“You really think so?”
“You've gotta,” Pepper said, “Jasmine's jealous.” They looked over to see that the mare gave them an angry look. Stanley tried to guide her away from them.
“Nice,” Matt smirked.
Soon, slow music began to play. Sam slowly reached for Pepper's hand. “Alright, Sam,” she said, “We can do this.” The chameleon and lion started dancing as Matt and Lucy looked at each other and blushed.
“Come on,” Rosie said, “Just dance. You love each other.”
“Rosie,” they both said in unison and blushed even more.
“Well...” Lucy said, “Do you want to dance?”
“I can dance,” Matt said. The two held each other's hand slowly started dancing. “It's been an interesting week.”
“Sure is. You don't I'm...”
“Weird? Slightly, but a fun weird. It's nice getting to know you again.”
“You too.”
“What else do you think I could do?”
“I'm a bit afraid to find out.”
“Hey, don't worry. We'll get through this together.” The two blushed a bit and Matt pulled in for a kiss, shocking Lucy at first, but she embraced it. It was going to be an interesting life for her.
