Around the Campfire—by KitsuneKit
As the long day of travel drew to a close, we opted to spend time enjoying the peaceful climate instead of cooping up into tents or other shelter right away. Our bard played a song, our telekineticist meditated, our marksman drank, our alchemist studied, my fiancé trained with his blade, and I—the shapeshifter—wistfully watched him and everyone else. I could feel the force of my relaxed breathing leaving my weighty body. These activities, of course, were our norm. But to do it together during a rare serene moment, with no threats hunting us and no rush to leave… it felt more special than ever, and even as a mere observer I felt a tight bond with my newfound family.
