Sometimes you should help a friend to get them to new heights and achieve their dreams! In this case, that's literal! Short story below!

Taking a break from work, Ambition and Wonder retreated to a favorite lush field of theirs. Lying on their backs they looked to the skies, pure blue with small traces of fluffy clouds.

Eventually, Ambition broke the relaxing silence with a question. “What is it like up there above the clouds?” Wonder looked sternly at the sky in silence and in thought. He had never considered that not every dragon had the blessing of flight. Ambition was a wingless, flightless drake, bound to cross the earth by land. “You can see just about everything, all from a new perspective, it’s breathtaking.” Wonder replied. Ambition sat up and glanced over at Wonder. “Just once I wish I could live the dream of feeling nothing but the air around me.” Ambition said. Wonder went silent again for a moment before envisioning an idea. “What if I carried you?” Wonder exclaimed excitingly. His excitement then suddenly turned to disappointment. “Wait, actually, you're too big for me to carry alone…” He said with waning confidence. “That’s okay, it’s not something I ever actually expect to be able to do. Dreams are dreams. Not all of them come true.” Ambition somberly said. The two looked away from each other, and went back to silence watching the clouds.

As the day became night, the two went back to their posts, but Wonder decided on looking for a way to make Ambition’s dream a reality. All it would take would be some Glamor. After a couple days and some secretive discussion with the guardian Wyvern Glamor, a plan was finally devised, and Wonder met up with Ambition at the field again.

Wonder started: “So I was thinking about the other day when you asked about the clouds, and I was really convinced to find a way to make things happen, so I called in a favor…I called over Glamor to help me take you to the skies and feel the breeze yourself. I know you don’t have the best relationship with Glamor, but please, give this a shot.” Ambition sat up and looked at Wonder. “Y’know, Glamor and I have been fighting so long, I don’t even remember why we were fighting in the first place.” Ambition noted. Wonder waited until he felt it was okay, and then signaled for Glamor to make his way over, and the wyvern stopped beside the two. “Since I can’t carry you, I thought that Glamor could because he is much larger and has stronger back legs.” Wonder explained. “Stand still right here and I will pick you up as I take off.” Glamor told Ambition. Ambition audibly gulped and said “I’ve never been so high up before… now would be a horrible time to find I I have a fear of heights…”

Soon the three had gotten into position. “Here goes nothing!” Glamor grumbled as he took off. He swooped down at an angle and picked up Ambition, keeping his grip as firm as possible around Ambition’s midsection to avoid dropping him. It only took a moment for the three to get up in the sky, and soon they settled at an altitude with quieter winds, gliding in the current.

Wonder approached from the side, ensuring his wings wouldn’t collide with Glamor’s. “So how’s it feel to see the world from up here?” He asked, glancing over at Ambition, who had gone limp in Glamor’s grasp. He had no response and had a bewildered look on his face. Ambition then realized he had been asked something and looked over quickly. “I can actually see where I am going and where I’ve been from up here…The feeling is a bit to get used to though…” he said as he tensed up again, realizing how high they really were.

The three chatted in the calm air for a little while, but soon it was becoming dusk and the three of them had to get back to the ground. Glamor came in for a landing, and glided shortly off the ground before releasing his grip on Ambition. Ambition landed on the ground and collapsed, legs spreading out. He let out a sigh of relief after feeling that the ground beneath his feet once again. Wonder landed beside him. “That sure was something… But I think I want to stay here on the ground where I’m comfortable.” Ambition said exhaustedly. Glamor moved in close to Wonder and whispered “I’ll leave you two be for now, I’ve gotta head out.” Glamor began to step away, but stopped himself and turned back and looked at Ambition. “It was nice to enjoy this moment, like the good old times once again. I think we should go back to being friends, don’t you think?” Ambition perked his head up and grinned. Glamor smiled back before turning around once more, and taking off into the darkening sky. Wonder laid down beside Ambition and the two watched the sky once again, as the stars began to come out.

This is just a condensed version of a single chapter in the overall Newfound story, and by no means in order. More context with the characters will come out in the future that will put things in place.

I had originally made this condensed version of this chapter and the model posing 4 months ago, but everything felt off, so I remade everything for appreciate a dragon day, and felt like finally uploading it. Spectral Glamor's texture is a little hard to see, but I just wanted to release this piece already (Behind the scenes, Garry's Mod was not being cooperative, and both Glamor and Ambition's legs with their models were getting stuck sticking straight up and looked awkward). I would love to get a commission for someone to remake this proper and non-spectral once all three dergs have their own ref sheets.
