Canis lupus lycaon - Algonquin Wolf also known as Eastern Wolf, Great Lakes Wolf or Deer Wolf.
As of drawing this there are about 500 individuals in the wild, and are considered threatened. They have been historically debated as some populations where found to be hybrids with genetics from coyotes and grey wolves, while others were a separate lineage of red wolves that separated from grey wolf ancestry about a million years ago. These guys live southern to northwestern Ontario, primarily in Algonquin Park.
I've been wanting to make posters of different wolf species, megafauna, etc. etc. Idk if ill use this one, I'd like more dramatic/obvious shading for it but we will see.
Shoutout to photographer Bob Hilscher, finding reference photos of this shy awkward teenager wolf species was not that easy and ~90% of the photos I found are by him. Oh Man they got long leg.
