If you haven’t already guessed from this photo and the one I posted a few weeks ago, the Fanner Exosphere electric ukulele is inspired by the Fender Stratocaster electric guitar. The Exosphere is equipped with three single-coil pickups which, according to the Fanner Guitar Works website, are “hand wound using alnico pole magnets and potted in beeswax harvested from the hives on the farm.”

That even looks like an old Fender colour -- Fender called it "sonic blue". It was the lightest of the three blue shades that Fender offered in the early-mid '60s. Daphne Blue was a sort of robin's egg blue, and Lake Placid Blue was a dark, metallic shade. I like them all.
