“Egy lépést sem.”I got inspired while watching my friend play some Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and so I decided to draw a Cuman fellow. Enjoy!

Great work. You don't see a lot of stuff on the Cumans. Eastern European and Central Asian armours are very distinctive. It's a shame more games don't feature them. Still, if you like this sort of thing, the Mount & Blade series does have factions inspired by medieval Russia and Central Asia if you need to get your medieval battle fix. ^^
Oh I adore Mount and Blade! I've clocked my fair share of hours in 'er, and will surely continue to coz it's just a great set of games, especially with all the awesome total conversion mods! Thanks a lot, I definitely would love to see more Eastern Europeans and Central Asians in videogames and shows, though I didn't draw it here I mentioned to Lupaszkaa how neat their face coverings were, I haven't seen many other cultures that would go to battle wearing a mask purpose made to look like a face, mustache and all.
Cheers! :)
Cheers! :)
Funny you should mention mods. M&B was the first game I ever modded. I made new armour and units (mostly by retexturing existing stuff from the main game and other mods), was gonna try to push for a total conversion mod but that darn world map editor didn't want to run. A shame too, I was really on a roll for a while, even made my own points-based system for troop and equipment balancing between factions... XD
That's a fair point, aside from the Turks, I know the Japanese use war masks (mempo). I believe the Tibetans have some too. While the Tibetans are possibly to be considered Central Asian, their culture is different enough they might as well be in their own category. I'd love to see a Medieval fantasy setting that takes place in a Central Asian backdrop. Imagine a D&D game with their armours, weapons, monsters, and culture. I dub it Steppepunk. XD
Also here's a cute one. It's a samurai tengu (bird-goblin) war mask. X3

Oh I LOVE steppe stuff, for a very brief time I ran a very poorly put together homebrew game based on central Asia, with some smattering of Scandinavians and Romans to the east and west. I never tried modding M&B, but considering the age of the engine it runs on I'd imagine it's probably a small bit painful, especially on modern hardware. x)
I actually never knew the Japanese would wear those masks into battle, I thought they were more of a festival thing (besides the typical samurai mustache masks lol). Regardless, whether you start as a typical European or a local, a medieval central Asian game would go so hard, whether it be a videogame or a board game.

Oooh, that sounds like an interesting homebrew. I appreciate those who go the extra mile and come out with more unique and interesting settings. ^^
Modding M&B wasn't too hard, people have come a long way with the software. And the sheer number of mods leaves for a great selection of stuff campaigns to play in. :3
As far as I can tell, mempos were on the more rare side of things, so it's understandable that you may not have seen one before. ^.^
I'd imagine if you did it right, a central Asian ttrpg setting would get pretty metal. I'd run it like Conan the Barbarian on the Steppe and bam, some classic fun. ^^

I like playing in scenarios that have some inspiration from the real world, especially when they're either low-fantasy (less magic) or just get absolutely crazy with their magic and their world. I'm surprised it's not too hard to mod M&B, though it makes sense considering how long the game's been out, there must be loads of documentation available!
Ah that would make sense on the mempos, still super neat though, I love weird old-world stuff like that, nothing's better than warfare, ritual, life, etc. gettin weird with it!
Though I didn't get to run it all the way through nor as I'd like to, it was pretty hardcore. I tried to run it as sandboxy and survivally as I could without getting annoying, there was even a run-in where a player got mauled by like a snow-leopard or something, only managing to fend the thing off by the hair of his neck. Other than that I had a lot of metal plans. The Scandinavian-like raider peoples from a western island were going to land on and attack the west of the main continent (where the Steppe-inspired and Catholic Roman inspired peoples come from). Though their first scout ship failed, when the main fleet came it was going to be hell, a full scale invasion! But yeah, just a handful of fun memories (and I suppose some lengthy google docs lol)

People have gotten crazy with the mods. They have ancient Rome, a fantasy mod with magic, various custom worlds, Warhammer Fantasy, and I think there was a zombie mod.
There are some truly strange armours throughout history. Such as Siberian bear hunting armour. Which looks terrifying. And you gotta love it when someone tries something new with armour, even if it doesn't work. X3
That setting sounds amazing, I'm sad I missed out.

I'll need to look up Siberian bear hunting armor, it sounds frankly amazing from your description of it (something about armors that are just scary are satisfying).
I honestly can' think of too many completely terrible blunders in armor making (though I'm also not the most informed on the subject! x3) I suppose lobster armor and that helmet plate on the front of stalhelms may count, considering that, while they did their jobs, they were also ungainly lol.

Siberian bear hunting armour is covered in spike to discourage bears from attacking. It's cool but at the same time it looks like something from Hellraiser.
I will say this, armour, whether for better or worse, is fascinating. You get a glimpse into the zeitgeist of the era, and get an idea of a sort of foreign world in which it's an entirely different thought to one's one. ^^

Ohhh that actually makes a lot of sense! Being terrifying is a small price to pay for not being murdered by bears lol.
I can certianly agree, you can always find styles typical of the era in armor, and in some cases styles are drawn from armor, like torn clothes from landschneckt being taken by the nobility!
