Title and lyrics are another song by the band Crying. I talked to my mom about the song since I forgot how to speak tagalog very early on, she says that batang is the word for a stump or a tree floating down the river (she talked directly about the river in her home village but I think it applies to any river). We think the title makes sense, I think the song is about a girl whose greatest agency is her ability to say no to the things other people want her to do (making her a killjoy with no real direction or agency, like a tree floating down the river.)

I absolutely love Crying! They haven't announced a breakup but it seems all the members have moved on to independent projects so it seems we're not getting anything new from them so I am left longing. I've actually been planning on making more drawings with this nameless yellow jackal based on songs from Get Olde/Second Wind, I've got Batang Killjoy and Easy Flight done, I'm excited to do more!
