Mel(usine) the yuan-ti oracle, is a bit of an outlier among his people. He's an axanthic albino, meaning that in his snake shape he can't actually blend in with anything. His snake shape is also... problematic. Rather than turning into something useful like a viper, cobra, or constrictor, Mel's alternate form is a hognose snake. Woe to any toads or buried lizard eggs that make an enemy of him but his options in combat as a serpent begin and end with "play dead" (badly). Because of how vulnerable he is, Mel lived a very sheltered life and never developed the hatred of other races that many yuan-ti have, as he was raised to be sacrificed to Sseth when he came of age.

Instead he got shipped first to Amn and then to Luskan in the box of coffee beans he's taken a nap in after hunting toads in animal shape.

His <i>Rod of the Python,</i> doesn't have any magic remaining in it, but it does have dolls eyes and a felt tongue so really, it's an improvement.
