They had known each other for a few months already when Mercer approached Haru with the suggestion of accepting the tiger as his student and teaching him karate. The dragon was reluctant about the idea at first, but not only did Mercer turn out to be a very fast learner, the relationship between the two also turned into something much more genuine, though Haru would never outright admit how much he cares for and how proud he is of him.
