Gritt went into the 7th round with the assumption that Kaye was finally finished with his constant aggression. He throws everything he has into cornering the gray hare. Kaye struggles to hold Gritt back as his face is struck with a flurry of jabs and straights. Gritt’s attacks increase in intensity as he grows frustrated that his opponent won’t fall. Kaye’s face slowly starts to swell further as his back is forced against the ropes.

With his vision almost completely gone and Gritt’s stamina starting to fade again, he makes for a desperate move. Kaye throws a heavy hook at Gritt’s torso that lands on target. Gritt coughs up blood as Kaye slips out of the corner and prepares to toss out a high kick. Gritt barely catches the attempt and throws his right arm up to hastily block his head. Gritt is still damaged from the impact as his body is sent bouncing off the ropes and falling towards the mat.

Gritt pulls himself back up using the ropes before he’s counted out. As the fight resumes, Kaye tries to focus on closing Gritt’s other eye completely. He spends the last few seconds aiming at Gritt’s right eye with a series of jabs. They strike cleanly as the bell rings while Kaye tosses out one more pretending he didn’t hear it. Gritt heads back to his corner with clear anger, while Kaye still bears a dumb grin.
