Homo Sapiens! What a species, so inventive.
Yet puny, invincible, defenseless, and defensive.
It's been many eons since they crawled from the muck.
And taught themselves how to speak, and how to walk.
They've survived fire, famine, plague, and flood.
They've survived horrors enacted in the name of God.
And now, here they are: in the stars of the galaxy.
Ready to live again, and outsit eternity.
