Zael was created originally for a Kingdom Hearts RPG that got cancelled, but I liked his design and backstory so much I decided to keep him!
Zael used to be overconfident and stubborn, and in an attempt to prove his strength went to fight Heartless on his own. The creatures bested him and managed to scratch his face and chest before his Master could intervene. Zael opted to keep the scars as a mark of his shame and a reminder to never underestimate darkness again.
