This is a very well made video with a CGI dinosaur. If you like dinosaurs, you may like this.
As for the plot; it is a call to redirect government fossil fuel subsidies to address other issues. Commendable sentiment.
"America’s oil and natural gas industry supports 10.3 million jobs in the United States and nearly 8 percent of our nation’s Gross Domestic Product. We spur economic growth through hundreds of billions of dollars investing right here at home every year. We create jobs across a wide range of other sectors to support our activities. We pay high wages and help American families work their way up the economic ladder." [1]
"Cumulatively, fossil fuels — shown below in shades of gray — still accounted for 84% of the world’s primary energy consumption in 2019." [2]
As a global species we almost certainly need to reduce global warming to survive. One way is to move away from burning fossil fuels. Another is to find an economical way to remove carbon dioxide and methane from the atmosphere. Both will probably be needed. Ending fossil fuel subsidies will be a big change to the fossil fuel industries, leading to a big economic change to many societies. Three questions:
Are we, the society, willing to take on this society upset?
Are we, the society, willing to find a center path that preserves the economy while addressing the warming climate?
Are we, the society, willing to pay more for energy, if that is what it takes? At least in the short term.
