Prompt #1 from my Hawketober 2021 list I made!
The first prompt is simply "introduction", so...

Meet our protag, Elias Hawke.
Born to elven mage Malcom Hawke, and magically-blooded Leandra Hawke (Amell), Eli (pronounced like Ellie) was born without magical talents. Though despite this anomaly in both he and his younger brother Carver, Eli does have a very VERY small pool of magic deep within him- unnoticed by all but the most talented of mages. He cannot voluntarily call upon these abilities, but instead somewhat delve into them in extreme circumstances- and even then it's simply a power buff to his templar-trained abilities.

He was trained to utilize templar abilities without truly becoming a templar due to this anomaly he possessed. His father and an Ex-templar from the same circle as Malcolm oversaw his training... Though they always expressed to never use or showcase these powers unless under the most terrible of moments. Protect the family. Protect your life.

Despite this, he never truly used any until the death of his own mother- lashing out at the man who murdered her and many others.

During that time, Hawke fell into a deep bout of self deprivation. His brother killed, his sister nearly died and sent to the Grey Wardens, and now his own mother dead in his arms. The man has been through hell and back too many times.

He has only his small circle of friends to lean on, as well as a certain apostate sewer rat...

Anders is his lifeline.
And by Andraste he would rather sacrifice himself before letting that man go....
