I often draw various things like this every time I try to draw something, so I figured I'd upload it.
I often try to draw different perspectives and patterns to try to see what perspective anything would be in in the final drawing.
I figured, my biggest issue is in not knowing how to sketch well enough, as line art often ends up just slightly different than sketch and obviously cleaner.
Sometimes I draw polygon structures to try to best visualize faces, muzzles, patterns, etc. Sometimes I draw bones underneath to try to get anatomy correctly, sometimes muscles as well.
Part of the issue is that I also tend to imagine things mechanically, rather than in perspective, so drawing perspective tends to be a bit more difficult.
Here I'm not too happy how much my attempts to draw Iri ended up resembling a dinosaur, though probably unsurprising considering I've been looking at dinosaur references a lot. It's kinda funny though, as sketch often looks like many different creatures until I manage to get it to look right. I guess that's a consequence of trying to have an original species
