My herd has expanded (again!). It now includes three bass instruments:
On the left is my first bass guitar, a solid body electric Ibanez GSR200SM with a lovely spalted maple top and jatoba fretboard.
On the right is my Applause acoustic/electric bass guitar. It has the signature Ovation lyrachord round back and Elite sound hole pattern, not to mention the gorgeous Vintage Varnish finish on the top.
In the center is my newest acquisition, a Kala acoustic/electric U•BASS. The top, back, sides, neck, fretboard, and bridge are all made of bamboo.
The guitars both have a 34-inch scale, while the U•BASS has a very short 20.875-inch scale. Yet all three of these instruments are tuned the same. The U•BASS achieves this thanks to its thick and “rubbery” strings. It’s unique and fun to play.
