Its probably more the still existing pain and presumed fear of still bleeding out.
I was walking around the area when I saw that stone and I had to take a photo, its a sign to a fancy suburb near Meridian and I thought it would be funny of Memorial Monuments become a lost monument.

During the Civil War, the Battle of Shiloh resulted in massive numbers of casualties. Sixteen-thousand wounded, and three-thousand dead.
It was a horrible, fetid swampy place, and the weather was unusually cold, so most of the wounded were hypothermic by the time they were removed from the battlefield and brought to hospitals. But they also noticed that the open wounds...were glowing blue.
