The patterns of one world always herald the next, whether memorable events are to come or not. Here the Eocene predatory sheep Andrewsarchus, the "sheep in wolf's clothing" heralds the coming Oligocene world, to the amazement of Brontotherium, distracted from grazing in the background.

does someone here knows if there is any dna trace of any sort, coming from those ages, I mean, dinosaurs are pretty far in time, the blood in the ambar mosquitoes is actually fosilized, and thus, it´s molecular composition is gone long ago.... but more recent prehistoric creatures, like the mammut and so, left plenty of frozen meat and bones and such.... do you know people if there is any possible "alive" dna of those creature in the eoceno, and some more near in time ages? that would be pretty cool if they have some mammut on a zoo.... but it would be awsome if they get to have some of those weird rinocero alike creatures, or even some early cetaceous... don´t you think?
There is reasonably intact DNA from Pleistocene megafauna. Some people will always bitch and complain about how OMG WE'RE PLAYING GOD but on the other hand, well, we play God every time we selectively breed livestock. Or photograph the Martian surface. Or drive at 65 mph. The barrier was broken down long ago. But the people who are full of fear of THEEE FUTUUUUURE will always try to stop biological science. Look, it would be unethical to force humans to interbreed to produce an underclass of really dumb servants. But resurrecting the mammoths would be a magnificent achievement. Think about it. The first humans to have spiritual feelings lived around the mammoths. They revered them even as they hunted them, just as all followers of the animal religions do. They painted the mammoths, carved fetishes of the mammoths, prayed to the souls of the mammoths they slew, to return to the place of origin and send more mammoths to The People.
So yeah, I'll play God, I do it every time I pile my sleepy ass into my Toyota Echo and drive to work.

man, i don´t know if I simply have a childish and edonistic vision of science as the trick that will grant all our whims and demands of an unnecesarily confortable and shallow life, but damn, even if it is usefull for jack, I WANT TO SEE REAL ALIVE MAMMOTHS !
I am sure you get my point on that XD
playing god? how? god uses magic and midichlorians, we are using science...different things..... maybe not for creationists.... but I think they aren´t discovering the cure for cancer anytime soon, so...when they scientifically achieve something like that, they will get my respet and I´ll take in acount whatever they say on scientist regards.... but until that day, i will just ingnore em, as any others do.
