It pays to read the copyright protections in games. Never know what kind of conditions they may hold.
This is a re-upload now that I've got the right thumbnail art. I wanted to do a first person story of me TFing into a Midna toy. And that's really it. The story was very fun to write, and I may do some more of these.

A horse whinnies. A powerful grunt. Hauntingly beautiful music with an accompanying chorus as the horse gallops across a great stone bridge and plains. A lone wolf howls as the title screen fades in. Sends shivers down my spine every single time.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. This game brings back so many memories. I’ve played every 3D Zelda game and loved them all, but this one felt different. It always felt more… special. More dramatic. And easily my favorite. I’ve been on kind of a nostalgic fix lately, and this game never fails to satisfy that itch.
In the past, I only played it on my Wii. But that thing hasn’t worked for years. So instead, I downloaded an emulator and rom. Still have the disc though, so it should be fine. I’m not technically breaking piracy laws since I did pay for it.
It’s been many years since I’ve played through the game, but I still remember it clearly. Link and Epona herding sheep, getting the slingshot, using a grass whistle. Everything is exactly how I remember; maybe even better since I can play with a controller instead of bad motion controls.
The opening sequence may have been a bit of a slog, but I’ve never minded it. Even so, I rushed through it quickly. There was still so much of the game to go. Blazing right through was easy. It wasn’t long before Link hit the giant wall of twilight. So imposing. Just a towering black mass with an eerie orange glow. A giant black hand pulls the hero through the shadowy veil, then the infamous wolf transformation. And as his unconscious body is dragged away, the camera pans over to someone else.
Midna. One of my favorite game characters of all time. And one of my first fictional crushes. Her design, her personality, her story. Everything about her made such an impression. There still hasn’t been a Zelda partner that’s topped her. The game cut back to Wolf Link, now chained. A few buttons later and another cutscene began.
Midna shattered the chains using her power. Her text was English, her voice gibberish. Everything felt so familiar.
“Curse”
I blinked. For just a moment, it sounded like she spoke perfect English. I don’t remember any voice lines like that. She kept talking as I tapped through the text boxes. Nothing similar; just more gibberish with an echo filter. No, I must have been hearing things.
The next part saw Link running through the castle sewers. It took a bit to get used to the movement, but it quickly became much easier on a better controller. Breezing through the waterways and ignoring the pointless soldier spirit dialogue, the heroes stood on the castle roof.
As Link walked along in the pouring rain, I felt something… strange. A weak tingling sensation in my hands. Funny; I don’t remember my wii remote vibrating during this section. Maybe it’s because of the controller? And the fact that it’s raining in the game? If so, a nice touch. Another brief cutscene involving a soldier popped up. My vision blurred for a second, and I could have absolutely sworn I saw something black on my hands. No, no. I shut my eyes and shook my head. It was just my black controller and a slight lack of sleep. Made a quick mental note to grab some coffee in a bit.
The cutscene ended, leaving Link to tread across the rooftops. I bolted past the enemies since it was pointless and unfun, and the vibrations grew stronger. Guess because I was technically in combat while running. Link leapt into a tower and ascended the staircase, entering Zelda’s chamber and beginning yet another cutscene. Man, I always forget how many of them there are early on.
Everything in this part auto scrolls, so I put my controller down for a second. And that’s when things got really strange. The controller stood still on my desk, not making any sound. But even weirder, the vibrations continued in my hands. And it was spreading up my arms. I looked down at my hands in wide-eyed horror. They were black and glossy; a very far cry from my pasty skin. It didn’t even look like they were mine. Yet they were, and the shiny black patch continued to spread up my arms.
My mind blanked. My body paralyzed in shock. What the hell was happening? As the black patch continued to spread, some light blue marks appeared on my arms, almost like tattoos. They looked extremely familiar. I swear, I know I saw something just like this recently. Where? And why is it shiny? Ugh, it’s no use. My mind was still shot.
The black patch, along with the strange vibrations spread past my shoulders to my chest. Another vibrating feeling grew, though this time in my legs. Absolutely none of this made sense. It felt like a dream. I could only stare as my body changed colors right before my eyes. These vibrations were far stronger, like pins and needles times five. I thought the situation couldn’t get any weirder. Don’t know why I ruled anything out at this point.
My shirt and pants started to feel really loose. Like, they were pajamas and sweats, already loose fitting and comfortable. But now they felt like they were swimming. Like they were XXL. No, it wasn’t just my clothes that seemed bigger. My desk, my computer, my chair, the walls; everything seemed so much bigger. A thought occurred. I tried to look down at my arms, and they were far shorter than I remembered. That confirmed it: Whatever was going on was also making me shrink.
I took off the now-oversized shirt and pants and noticed yet another anomaly. My chest and stomach were a light bluish-gray color instead of the constate black. It still bore the same glossy sheen. Another tingling sensation grew in my chest, though this one felt far different. It felt like something was… stretching. Growing. I stared down curiously, watching my body change in the most unexpected ways. Two small, smooth, bluish mounds formed. They quickly blossomed outwards, taking on a much larger, rounder shape. Boobs. My mouth hung ajar as I watched them. A real pair of big smooth boobs. But I’m a guy… I’m so beyond confused. Admittedly, it didn’t feel too bad having such a nice pair, but I was so bewildered. I couldn’t help but feel them. To my perhaps unwarranted surprise, they made a soft squeaking sound in my hands. Like a pair of balloons rubbing against each other. Wait, balloon? Is that why my skin is shiny now?
Out of sheer curiosity, now that I had boobs, I looked past my chest and towards my crotch. Dunno what I was expecting, but anything would have been less strange. There was nothing. No bulge, just smooth ‘skin,’ if I could call it that. More like smooth rubber. Another tingling sensation like my chest grew, this time in my thighs, hips, and rear. Just like my boobs, they quickly stretched and swelled outwards. My thighs quickly ballooned to the size of tree trunks, rubbing and squeaking against each other. Similarly, my hips and butt rapidly swelled, stretching a good few inches and giving me a rather exaggerated, pear-shaped figure.
The original tingling sensation spread up my neck now. I should have expected it by now, but still found it shocking. It quickly crept up past my chin, completely engulfing my head; changing it to the weird, shiny, rubbery substance. I sighed; whatever was going on wasn’t going to stop until I was completely changed. I could feel my ears changing; stretching and taking on a different shape. They were far larger than before. I couldn’t see, but it felt like they ended in an oval, pointed shape. Something felt like it was growing on my head. I couldn’t see it, but I could feel it. It quickly covered my left eye in a thick shell of rubber. THAT started to worry me. Thankfully, it only covered my left eye and felt more like an eyepatch. So I wasn’t going to be blind; just inconvenienced. Well, more than I already was. Sigh. At this point, I’m completely numb to whatever’s happening. My hair tingling and stretching, to the point it’s rubbing up against my ass? Meh, whatever. Nothing could surprise me now.
Or so I thought. A loud, bored yawn came out of nowhere. I’ll admit, I jumped. Then I remembered my game. The cutscene was over, Wolf Link stood in the stairwell with Midna on his back. The yawn was just her idle animation. With nothing else to do, I grabbed my controller (Much harder to do since I was so much shorter now) and continued to play, guiding Link to jump out a window to land on the castle roof once more.
And another cutscene! Midna spoke down to Link like usual, but something else stirred. Gears turned, connections were made. Small creature with pointy ears, black and bluish-gray body, glowing blue markings, extremely long hair, and an admittedly exaggerated pear-shaped figure. She looked so familiar. I looked down at my newly changed body. It was an exact match… except the boobs. And the rubbery body. I looked exactly like her. No. More than that. I was her.
Right before the cutscene ended, Midna spoke again. “Curse.” It was the same exact sound byte as before; I wasn’t just imagining it. The cutscene promptly ended with Link teleporting out, the screen fading to black. In the brief time it took the game to load, I finally saw myself in my screen’s reflection. It was true. I was a one-to-one copy of Midna. My short brown hair was now a bright, glowing orange and far, far longer than I’d ever care to have. My face looked just like hers, even down to the intricately designed fused shadow helmet. The other eye had turned to yellow and red; the same color as the character. I had completely become an inflatable Midna toy.
I leapt out of my chair and ran to my phone. Well, ‘ran’ isn’t the right word. I didn’t actually touch the ground, instead hovering a few inches above it. Levitating. Somehow not the most bizarre event today. At least moving still came naturally.
Twilight Princess Emulator Transformation
Never thought I’d have to put something like that in a search history. Luckily, the first response was a forum post from the place I downloaded the rom. As it turned out, there were a whole host of people who used the same rom, with the same exact results. All of them transformed into an inflatable Midna toy. Some had tried to post videos, but they had all been taken down due to copyrights.
I kept scrolling, looking for an explanation. And more importantly, a fix. It took a bit, but I finally found a post from a site moderator. “Yeah, we know about this issue. It’s part of Nintendo’s copyright protection. We’re working on a workaround, but it may take a while. For now, the only way to reverse it is to beat the game. Consider yourselves lucky!”
I sighed again and floated back to my chair. It still felt weird, but I managed to readjust my setup to get more comfortable with my new form. The game finished loading and was ready to be played. Well, at least it’s a game I know by heart. I grabbed my controller and sat down; it was going to be a long journey.
