So how does it work? Does it reactively harden when Technophile is under attack? does it do anything other then protect her body?

For a shorter explanation, she is injected with a solution that contains nanites. She triggers them and they transform her clothing into her armor. The large glowing panels are force field emitters. The nanites also give her the power to transform any gun she picks up. Entirely changing the firepower she can bring to bear. Her biggest weakness are powerful EMPs and running low on natural energy. She will consume a concentrated sugar solution to keep her blood sugar levels up to supply this. When the nanites wear out or are switched off they fall from her body like a dust, leaving her nude, except for her collar which is a specially engineered material that is not converted by the nanites when she engages her armor.

Noted, I still have to direct people to some of my older works. There's a gap of about three years inbetween the beginning and the end of my sci-fi short.
