Overlooking the twisted landscape, several ruined buildings stood in the midst of a long destroyed city. On top of one, a lone fox watched through a pair of binoculars down at the silent streets. Nothing. With a sigh, Delta lowered the binoculars and placed them on the railing.
“Where the hell am I?” He glanced down at the road. Still desolate. There has to be a way back. He strode towards the almost intact stairway. Upon reaching the ground floor, he navigated the hallways towards his haven. The final room on the right had a hole in the wall that led to a deeper facility.
Here was his so called home. In truth, it was nothing more than a small space that held enough room for a makeshift bed and a desk with a computer built into it he’d found and dragged back.
Home. A sense of dread resonated as he took out his phone. Tapping the photo album, he scrolled through pictures from various points in his life. Pictures of scenery and the occasional wildlife passed until he came across the one he was looking for. His family. His siblings stood alongside him, doing false smiles for the photo.
A tear fell onto the screen. The memory of them still remained, like a ghost that refused to be forgotten. He placed his phone in his pocket. He needed a way back. Walking to the desk, he pressed the power button.
The screen came to life, illuminating the room. Within a few minutes, blueprints appeared on screen. The device he saw down in the proving grounds. <Begin recording> His face appeared onscreen as the workstation began to record.
“Audio log #14? 15?” He checked the previous log numbers. 14. “Audio log #14. It’s been more than an month since I arrived here. As of my last attempts to start the device, it didn’t work. Upon activation when powered, it sparked and seconds later detonated. Thankfully, I managed to avoid injury but my efforts have been impaired by this setback.
“Despite this, I’m not losing hope yet. I’ve prepared a back up and will be testing it again. After what happened last time, I’ll be using less power which seems to have caused the last one to overheat and explode. If it works and it’s what I think it is, then I’ll be able to do what we though was impossible. If not, then…”
He leaned in. “I want those that I love and care about to know that what happened to me was nothing short of a freak accident. I was walking home from the store and just as I was on the road back, something came up. I found myself falling into an empty void for what felt like hours. When I got out, I was stuck in something worse. Worlds flashed before my eyes as I was thrown between realities until I wound up here.
“I should be thankful that I got canned soup and some glass water bottles. But now my supplies are starting to run out. If this actually works then I’m going to get some things and find my way back home. If it doesn’t work or if something happens to me… I hope that whoever finds this has the heart to give this recording to my family. I’ve messed up in life but the one thing I regret is not telling them that no matter what they did to me, I love them. Delta, over and out.”
With that, he stood up and strode over towards the proving grounds. He grabbed the gauntlet like device and placed it on the mechanical pedestal. Attaching cables to it, he walked over to the computer. The generators whirred to life as fresh energy surged into the device. In seconds, a glow emanated from the muzzle of it, indicating that it was ready. As his finger went towards the activate button, he hesitated.
This was it. All or nothing. With a deep breath, he said “Here we go.” He pressed it.

This was something I drew more recently and was hoping to explain a bit more of Delta’s story in this along with the universe (Omni-Verse in this case.) in a somewhat clear light. I’ll understand if you get lost or confused about something in the world. If something comes up that contradicts it or is a plot hole, I’ll try to fix it.
Still I hope you like this. I’m all ears on feedback since it helps artists improve. I hope you all have a good day/night!
