Gerik singing a cover of the Screamin' Jay Hawkins classic.
I imagine him to have voice like that, or relatedly Nick Cave: a big
booming voice in a relatively small body.
This was done as a kind of proof of concept. If I can't show him singing the
way I see it in my head, then all the design in the world won't help.
The dramatic close-up is mostly because I haven't worked out the rest of
the band yet :P
No smoking while he's singing - though I imagine right after a show he
immediately lights up. Like after sex.

I love how Gerik's design is coming along. I can see what you meant about the wattles acting more like gauged earplugs, and I think it's a visual element that works really well here.
I can totally see the lighting up after a gig, too. I know way too many band members who do exactly that. :P

As soon as you wrote the title of the song "I put a spell on you" I instantly had a sound in my head. The fun thing was that I had never really sourced the original, but instead heard the Diamond Galas' version (or at least the snippet that appears in Natural Born Killers) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAFbYN_8e7g

Looking at the pic of this dude he looks like he'd have the voice of the singer from Strapping Young Lad in the song Detox. The sound of the screaming in that song seems to match him to a T for me for some reason.
