I'm going to try to be good about process for this. Thinking. All the
attributes here can mix-and-match fluidly, so don't think the designs are
set in stone here. Put one head on another body, and so on.
Some choices I've already made (like the wing fingers) and a minimal
wattle.
The one on the right could have a punk/Sid Vicious thing going on,
hmm.

Skinny's good - got the whole starving artist thing. Punk fits that downtrodden image, but is kinda more nihilistic for someone travelling somewhere with a buncha oddball friends to become famous (Though, then again, I remember the Social Distortion documentary).
I like the one on the left too, a lot. Dreads fit the comb idea interestingly - though if he's a readhead (the comb), then windswept hair-in-the-eyes irish prettyboy celtic/punk might work too.

Well, the rooster is the last to join the group, as it goes donkey -> dog -> cat -> rooster. And so the band is suffering a donkey trying to "sing" lead and then meeting an tough asshole cock rooster with a good voice. maybe the young irish "prettyboy" for an embarrassing backstory? :D
... honestly, while I was trying to look at the different elements, I kept picking the ones from the middle picture.
Conceptually, I like the mohawk, but visually, I think the springy "pompadour" comb LOOKS best.
The baggy "drumstick" legs work both visually and conceptually.
The square shoulders are entirely a visual preference, but they mesh well with the middle pic's shorter stature to give a "tough little bantam" effect.
That "tough little bantam" approach could mesh well with some punk elements and attitude to produce DO NOT FUCK WITH HIM effect.

I'm really not fond of the one on the left, but the one on the right seems to be the most unique look, the kind that really sticks with you and makes the character be memorable.
The center one, however, would be the one I advise.
It would be difficult to make the ones on the right or the left really work, but the center one looks like a winner no matter what.

I generally expect a rooster to be 'chesty' if that makes sense, with a proud posture. To me these guys don't have a 'cockerel's posture', they're hunched over and sniveling looking. I dig the dreadlocks cockscomb idea, and using baggy shorts to get a drumstick profile is clever.
I like the head/torso of #3. Give him a tight sleeveless shirt as contrast to fluffy shoulder feathers. I like the shorts of #2 and the boots/ankle bracelets and long legs of #1. the spurs are awesome and I wouldn't like them as much covered up by boot as in #3. Bigger feet, maybe, or at least longer toes? Cock's comb is best in #3 I think as it stays truest to its nature. The dreadlocks would be odd to me as it's too suggestive of hair, and hair and feathers don't mix to my eye. That's what I think. :"D
Thanks! I already jumped into the next round two hours ago, so I didn't get to see this. But I'm also realizing that with an extended narrative, character doesn't have to be static. Shirts can come off, characters can get soaked in water, etc. And so some of the considerations like "bare shoulders or not" aren't so critical; both can happen in the same narrative. I want fluffy shoulder feathers too :)
Generally I like #3 as I find it is the most befitting in comparison with the sketch earlier on, especially as far as posture and build go. However, I do like some of the clothing ideas of the others a lot: The visible spurs with rings for example, as they would add to the belts, buckles and the piercing or the lighter boots. A concern I'd like to mention for #3 would be that a tank top might appear to cut in to the poofy feathers on the shoulders, hence make them appear overly round - I like the scraggy look of shedding feathers, but think the narrow square shoulders would fit the posture better.
I gotta say I'm feeling the middle one the most. I can't quite pin it down, but that design has the most "appeal" to me.
The left one has a much more elegant, refined stature, not so very confrontational and punk-rawk as I think you're going for. The right one is eye-catching, but the jagged lines of the feathers come together to make the whole thing just a bit too visually distracting.

(Agh, didn't see the "detailed" part until I hit Submit...)
I like the idea of a cockscomb that's jagged and generally mohawk-shaped, but not on purpose - perhaps it's scarred and chunks are missing from fights? The piercing is also an excellent touch!
If you don't know, I'm a punk fanboy all the way. I'd shy away from the skinny jeans, but if he were shirtless and wore the baggy shorts from the middle I think it would be awesome.
For the shaggy feathers idea, I think it's a marvelous concept - especially since punks are not known for their good hygiene... ehe...
Wonderful idea though! Seeing the Brementown musicians brought back a whole bunch of memories!

I'm partial to the first two. It seems that their feathers aren't as abrasive as the third.
The clothing (from the outline and what I gather to be more pictures of the same Rooster) number three looks fashionable. I really like the high-high tops, very aesthetically pleasing.
