sewers are not spacious. storm drains (sometimes) are. of course storm drain might not have the same drama or gravitas as sewer (nor smell as bad) and in a midevil setting, (the earliest they would likely to have been built below ground) they would have been the same thing if they existed at all.
not meaning to whinch, i love any and all mazelike settings and wish we could build and live in more of them in real life.
