How do you kill a concept? A thought? An idea? Some 'Old Gods' draw power from the believe of their loyal, their faith, their actions, their sacrifices. Without those their powers fade, their influence lost, and they themselves quietly wither and die. But that's only for them. Some entities exist so long as the idea of them them does. A living concept, a sapient idea. An entity existing so long as life does. Their power might fade, but never fully leave them. Their influence my seem lost, but it's never fully gone.
No, you can't kill an idea, but you can forget it. And over time, you can forget what was once essentially a god. An entity reduced to a sketch impression on a wall. Not the wall his once-thought-final fate was etched on, but so long as there is thought, there is a trickle of power. And impression that found two young curious minds, two sparks to bring his birth annew.
And the first thought he takes, and imparts to anchor his presence, something new, a sign, a marker, a symbol, a name.
Tagg.
Here's my attempt at art, drawing Tagg, something of the Living MacGuffin/Plot Device for the Weird/en/ing setting. My attempt is not good. Not good at all. There is even another version where I tried giving him eyes, but I was told it was too cursed to post XD I just think it's goofy.
Tagg was influenced by Bill Cipher (Gravity Falls), Discord (My Little Pony), Truth (Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood) and the AntiSpiral (Gurren Lagann). Honestly, the popular Gravity Falls AU Monster Falls was also a major influence on us coming up with the weird/en/ing concept.
To explain Tagg a bit more is my job more than Blue's. He's a conceptual entity, interdimensional, a living dream, a living idea. He's a reality warper though has lost pretty much all his power by the time he shows up in the story. He does regain a lot of power over the decades following the start of the concept though. He gains power the more things change, and the more things are affected by his actions. Jeri and Nat did expose him to a new concept though, of making small changes to just enjoying the massive shifts in destiny it causes.
He's not a cruel entity though, for all he is amoral and non-human in his thinking. A trait of the weird/en/ing changes is it comes with a perception filter, and a retroactive effect. Jeri, for instance, can remember a childhood as both human and a sphynx. It's far from perfect, and holes are easy to poke if you try, but it equips people with most of the basic knowledge they need for their new forms, and minimizes the more violent reactions since people don't find it as strange. As Tagg gained power, so did the thoroughness of this effect though, things like pictures changing to reflect the new reality.
Anywho~ This sketch look is only for the 'early' Tagg. The stronger he grows, the more defined his Concept, and thusly his appearance, till he eventually settles on a form much like Father (and Grandfather) from KND.
