Epiphany

This weekend I decided to try drawing a gift art to a friend. This friendship started with a commission a few years ago, back when I had way more confidence than common sense. For that commission, He asked me to paint a character from his story, story that he recently completed but haven't published yet. Since then, I owed him my impressions on his work (and still do to be honest), so I thought that it would be nice to secretly do a new painting of his character.
After several hours sketching I finally came up with a pose I thought was good enough, I decided to try going through the whole pose from memory and only do minor corrections to put into practice all the stuff I learned in the gesture course, so far so good, but when it came down to painting nothing worked. Several attempts but everything felt fruitless. I went to sleep frustrated, woke up frustrated, tried some more, but again nothing.
Since eating is still a necessity, much to my disdain at the time, I left home to find some fuel to make the stomach stop complaining. That wasn't too hard. Going outside was actually a good thing, day was sunny but not as hot as the previous ones. Wandering the streets for a few hours helped clear my mind and stretch my legs, they really wanted that. On the way back however, I had an epiphany, and for a moment I thought I knew what to do. So I rushed back home plugging the tabled to the PC and like magic, things actually started to work. They started to work so well to the point I felt like writing this wall of text here.
This is far from done, but I believe that finally it is on the right track. The reason I wrote all this, is because often we see final results, but not what goes behind them, and I think that sharing these bits and pieces can help creating a more human connection. Let me know if you find these details interesting, perhaps I can write some more for future pieces.

Sometimes we just have to take a break here and there and do something else to get inspired.
It was a good thing that you took a walk to get some food. ^^
Sometimes I hate having to eat, but guess dead raccoons can't draw, so gotta eat :/
