Silence in Azmar

Fun YCH masterfully completed by
-Mirt-, who is still running others like it on their page!
Rain and snow are two themes I really don't commission enough of. They're absolutely delightful.

Azmarian winters were nothing short of extreme, due almost entirely to the vast levels of snowfall seen there on a regular basis. Though throughout other months it was known by both sides as one of the most vicious fronts of the war, with winter came a swift silence, appreciated by all those who had lived to hear it. The tanks, siege vehicles, artillery turrets, and mechanical foot soldiers used to perpetuate the fighting inevitably became buried under the sea of snow. With no safe places to land and refuel, even the intimidating battle cruisers were forced back into orbit, to reunite with their carriers until the frost thawed.
It was as if nature was asserting itself once more over humanity and their war-like nature, in a move so simple and elegant, as to extinguish the fire so many thought would never burn out.
Valkiro, who was one of the few still able to traverse the new landscape, found the experience intriguing. Below his feet, at any given moment, lay columns of enemy artillery ready to begin firing the second their barrels were freed - peace hanging so precariously above them. He knew the silence could never last, but just for a while, hope was possible to see without smoke filling the sky.
