Here's another straight razor I just finished up today. I forged the blade 2 days ago and I made the scales the next day from what I can only guess to be walnut. It was a scrap of wood I found on the side of the street.
I fitted it together last night and sharpened it this morning.
The copper sleeve you see on the spine of the blade is simply there to act shape as a better hollow grind. I did my best to give it a hollow grind, but it was too subtle.
I shaved with it just a moment ago and it works very well.
