Cacti actually aren't found commonly in the Owyhee, at least from my experience and research, it is a desert just not a cactus desert.
Pines could work! Pine smells nicer anyhow

Ah, I did notice there weren't any on the page.
I like both, though some non-prickly type of evergreen branches could make for fragrant bedding!
