When we last left Tina and Sherryl (Installment 59) the two had just escaped a sudden downpour by taking shelter in a discount shoe shop. Fortuitous for them, huh? In any case, it turns out that this rainstorm is going to last longer than they can spend in the shop, so they'll have to walk home in it sooner or later. But there is a little issue. Sherryl doesn't want her new shoes getting soaked. As anyone owning a pair of flats knows, wearing them in a moderate to heavy rain for any length of time means they're getting wet, inside and out.
Technical:
Normally, I seem to be able to post one fully-colored pic a month. This month, I managed to complete four pics, comic pages with somewhat complex backdrops set in a self-service shoe store (similar to Famous Footwear) with dozens of shoebox ends visible around the characters. How'd I do it? The answer is, much of the groundwork on these pages took place in 2019. I just didn't say anything about the work back then since I didn't know if I was going to make real progress on them then. And nope...all I managed to do was ink the characters and outline part of the backdrop. When I re-opened these following the posting of Installment 61, I was confronted with a bewildering array of layers in each page. I had established seperate layers for the character inks and the backdrop inks...for each panel. Those artists who put a zillion layers in every digital pic they complete may be saying "So?", but for me that was a big deal. So I'm going to spread the rest of the technical blather over the remaining three pages.
Pencil on bristol inked (2019) and colored (2021) in Clip Studio Paint EX. 16 layers (including text+word balloons), 18MB .CLIP file. Part of Project ID# 451 (Pg#91).

Well, there are those little backpacks hanging in the backdrop. She'll probably buy one of those to carry her current shoes in.
She's probably not too keen on going barefooted though, being that the use of footwear has long been normalized in their group, only Nei'chelle would press for that option.
