Some of you have known, some of you have suspected, and for some this is new information.

I'm very private, but I've decided this pride month to try to open up just a tiny bit more. Horsie is not changing. The tl;dr version of what follows: I am trans, not Horsie. The only change you might see with her going forward from this point is the inclusion of the trans flag colors on clothing or whatever have you. Horsie remains cis.

The longer version (though it may not actually wind up being that long) is that Horsie is my fursona, my idealized self. For a lot of trans people they want to include the transition in their 'sonas and this is completely valid! For me, it is not about the journey. If I could snap my fingers and be cis female with no memory of not having been, I would do it in an instant. Furry fandom is often my escape, my happy place. And so I won't put that real life struggle on her in the same way I don't want to connect Horsie to working where I work or doing what I do. But that being said, I am trans. And Horsie is me. So there are gonna be times that she reps the colors. And then there's gonna be a lot of times that she does not. When I added Akila, an openly trans character, it opened up another chance to express without feeling trapped in it. She will continue to be who she is as well. Essentially nothing has changed. I'm just pulling back the curtain a little bit.

EDIT 12-9-21: I've got this page linked on my profile so I do go back and look at it occasionally. I think being a bit more open about being trans has been helpful (no shit, right?), but being in that headspace for a while I will say that things have changed a little in that Akila has definitely stepped up a bit more. She hasn't replaced Horsie yet, I don't expect her to... but they are definitely co-fursonas now. Which will probably keep *most* of my trans imagery on her.

EDIT: 02-19-2023: I forgot to update this little repository of knowledge sooner. I have begun to transition! As of a couple months ago! Which that pretty much pushed the needle - Akila is my only fursona now, Horsie has been retired to character. I still love her, I just feel much closer to Akila now.

EDIT: 05-24-24: I got yelled at to update this like a month ago but I didn't. So now I'm taking a break from some backlog uploads, to further update! Transition is going well! I am out, uh, everywhere. It's generally not a big deal to anyone lol. Relationship has been great with mom and my family, arguably we're way closer. This is definitely not how I would have expected things to go, but I'm happy that it has.

On the furry front, as will be posted later today, tomorrow, or some day in the future when I inevitably put it off here shortly... I have a new sona. I got bold enough and confident enough to start sending selfies to friends... RedPixie responded with her usual enthusiasm and said I needed a truesona, and that it needs to be a deer because I have doe eyes. So my deer, Corinne, has both my name and a lot of my features. Hair, eyes, some marks, general anatomy... she is very close to me. Akila hasn't gone anywhere, she's also me. But I'm back to having two, lol. But I love them both. :)
