Thymes are a custom species of mine and they're little critters based on Beetles! Maybe I should add a journal or something explaining what they are...

Hm... That's a new comparison.
I don't think so. Trying to explain what they are without going into much detail is a toughie.
They're small creatures that seek out the 'Perfect Timeline'. Each Thyme is assigned a role and some are paired up with an existing creature to see if they have any factor with time shifts. In a sense, Thymes are Time Guardians and ensure the timeline they are focusing on is stable and doesn't blow up the Universe.
(Yeah, I should probs add a journal entry explaining this species, aha)
