The storytelling yamabushi
Art and little story by Tacki (go check the stinky hatchling's works !). So, I'm a yamabushi, a warrior priest. It is based on the RPG game I worked for (legends of the 5 rings) and the character that I played when I played said game (and became an official character in-universe). A shugenja (a priest that can cast elemental spells) known for fighting his battle in melee (which is called a yamabushi) and a follower of the Dragon of Thunder (both the god of lightning and of heroism), he usually spent his free time telling stories, mostly to children, a lot being his own adventures but without saying so. Now, to the dragon daimyo :
War had come. No one was surprised. As the Beastkin Daimyō took a major step on the path to claim the Shogunate, he allowed one of his spiritual advisors to address the troops. Loupy was a wolf pup whose actual age belied his appearance. Having lived for quite a long time, he was a walking library with stories and tales of the brave heroes of old. As the storm clouds gathered, as the enemy advanced, the yamabushi empowered the Daimyō's men with confidence and espirit de corps. Knowing what the troops needed, he dispelled their anxiety with one of the sillier tales from the beastkin past:
"As a storyteller, I know many stories. I'm sure you all would like one. What about the stinky hatchling and the moon? Now hear the tale of a hatchling who couldn't keep his pants clean, but decided to conquer the world so everyone would wear diapers like him and how he decided to reach for the moon and the rabbit living there... Would he succeed? All by himself? No chance, but that's where his loyal retainers came in..."
