Ah, finally it's done! Or at least I think it is... That's for
nukapei to decide. This is her character Katia surrounded by what I hope to be a romantic scenery. My first anthro commission ever! *jumps of joy* =D
I don't think I've ever spent this much time colouring a single picture. I had to resize this one heftily before submitting it. Nukapei will of course have the full-sized version and the lineart.
Sorry for spamming you guys with so much stuff at one go! My pics always have a tendency to pile up. I'll take a little breather now and concentrate on scetching some comics. Tally ho and hip pip!

Lol, I'd never ignore ya, hon. Thanks for your input! =D
I've often been told that my drawings would be well-suited for fairytales or children's books. With candy colours they might look even more so. What I was looking for here was the sort of puffy 19th century romance...

Like this, you know? Though I must admit that my lines are a bit too inane to mimic that challenging style. =)

The picture you refered me to looks like a piece from the Romantic or the Impressionist period. Or is it the Neoclassical. Hahhaa. I've dumped all my Art History back to the lecturer. XD
Anyways, since you're aiming for the painterly style, obviously, it requires even greater contrasts between the highlights and shadows. Great attempt though. :)

I'd say it's from Romantic period, but I can't claim to be an expert or anything. I've only taken a couple of courses in art history. Cultural history is more my thing.
A good painterly style would indeed require more contrast and, regrettably, a no-lineart approach. I guess this pic falls in between many categories, but it does not sadden me. Thanks for your compliment! =)

Proggies such as Photoshop and Painter are still pretty new to me, but I think I've learned to do better than what I first did - you should see my first doodlages. They were horrible! =D
Thanks for your kind compliment. I will try to get better... I'm far from being satisfied with my knowledge conserning digital colouring. I wish I had some magic crystal that would tell me how to use channels and masking layers and such. =P
