Snakes to the caminantes symbolically represent the idea of a Guardian or protector of the nest so its a popular motif.
Mirmi is one of the many balãr sundered yet to drown here in the morii. panicked as it was ripped from one realm into the mortal fold it, like many balãl, would quickly build physical forms for themselves to wander in. Yet no matter how many bodies Mirmi built for itself it could not push past the horrors it saw in it's physical form, each body an abomination and each body driving the sundered voice deeper into it's anxieties.
Eventually being forced to settle on a body to live in Mirmi would decide to hide it's hideous form, living in La Ciudad de México, it would sheath it's form under a thick and grand cloud of mumurfog, a shroud so large noone could find it and fog so thick none could survive it long enough or see through it to witness Mirmi.

Los caminantes journey into La Tierrniebla primarily for scavenging and trading, as sometimes the shifting fogs may surround a village in fog that forces other tribes to journey through that fog to reach the safer villages. Most don't journey into the fog to find Mirmi specifically.
Plus Mirmi is a more hostile bal, fearing that judgemental mortals might gaze upon it in horror Mirmi would rip spirits from the tidal chime to serve it as sentires, guardians, and warriors to protect it from the gaze of those too low to understand it's situation so precarious. Should a caminante every make the mistake of stumbling or viewing upon Mirmi (La Madre de la Niebla) then they will meet a swift end, destroyed by the rage of a god so anxious.
So no, in fact its suicidal to do so as seeing mirmi is basically an instant and horrible death
