So uh, you wanted to see me sir?
Ah yes, please Mr. Deubuc have a seat, I just want to have a chat, can you tell me more about the newest hire? This, 'Manny Collett' fellow.
The bobcat? well, I know he's a graduate from Mirran Institute, not exactly a top scorer, but not a bad one either, according to the professors who've worked with him, he's known for creating a wide assortment of bizarre inventions, many of which while highly complex, are either novelty based or rather useless. That's not to say he isn't smart, I'm very much sure he is, I mean he DID graduate legitimately from one of the finest schools in the world.
Hmm, I've been looking at his background and it's just drawing blanks, no known parents, a rather sketchy birth certificate, and the town he says he comes from seems to be on some island that apparently exists, I had no idea till I went to look it up. I don't know, something about him just gives me weird vibes.
What do you mean sir?
Well... he dresses strange, I'd describe it as paradoxically too formal and highly informal, outside of his lab coat he dresses like some gentleman or business owner that wouldn't look out of place in a different era, say maybe 300 years ago? He also acts rather strange, at lunch he usually eats something weird, like potato chips dipped in tuna, or fish encased in gelatin, or even just straight up fermented fish from a can. Some of our workers even avoid sitting next to him as they tend to lose their appetite due to his strange choice of dining.
Oh dear, I hope I didn't hire someone bad, I swear I checked his background, he's not affliciated with KD or Aura in any way.
Oh no, don't get me wrong Mr. Deubuc! I know he isn't, It's not all bad, our Draconic friend seems to have taken a big liking to him, to the point of becoming one of her new favorite caretakers.
Alicia Embers?
She really seems to enjoy his company, she was slightly suspicious about him at first, but very quickly warmed up to him, on his first day with her, he bought along some building toy, and asked if she was willing to donate some of her old toys for what he wanted to do on their playdate, she agreed and took some toys she didn't particularly like, and in a few hours the both of them put together... well this.
Uh... Is that a Train and a pirate ship fused together, with a house as the cab, a propeller on it's mast, and dragon wings?
Remote controllable too, watch this.
*Ch-rrrr.... Click-Clak Click-Clak Whirl....*
It flies? but how? How does that propeller even produce enough lift? It's not large enough! or those flimsy wings? they don't flap at a speed fast enough to generate lift!
Alicia won't let us take it apart as she loves the new toy so much, but from my theory, the only logical way I could think off was that Manny might have used one of those gravity anchors to achieve this.
Gra- aren't those things used to suspend airships in place mid-air!? Those things!? They're massive! how'd he get one small enough to fit into a toy?
Well, that's my theory anyway, god knows how he did it, maybe I'll ask him tomorrow. Aside from strange toys, he's shown to be a really good teacher to her too, especially in things like S.T.E.M, something her other caretakers had difficulty teaching her as she easily grew bored of those classes. Too the point where she's asking for more classes from him, something I've never heard from her before, as she usually doesn't like them. Overall, I think you bought in a bizarre, yet great individual Mr. Deubuc.
Oh, uh, thank you sir.
I'm rather interested in him, and plan on talking to him in person soon. Oh, before you go I would like to know, does he have any hobbies or interests?
I heard he's an avid train enthusiast, which I guess explains why the toy he built looks the way it does. I don't think we've ever bought Alicia a train set.
I see, thank you for your time Mr. Deubuc.
You too sir.
