“Chances are, if you’re like me, you’re one of the most intelligent creatures in the universe! But, if you’re not like me, chances are you’re an imbecile.”
Pollyx the Terachnoid from Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time. Honestly one of my favorite tertiary characters and the poor guy doesn't even have any fanart. (at the time I'm typing this, he has one drawing on Instagram and everything else just brings up Into the Nexus's plot points)
When I sketched this out, I was mainly using A Crack in Time references where he has a very visible metal eye. Then, while I was inking the picture, I find out that Into the Nexus depicts him with two working eyes, thus making my embellishment of facial scars entirely non-canon, but to hell with it, my way is funner.
Anyways I headcanon that the reason he was working with Dr. Nefarious despite being from a very intelligent species and probably knowing the effects of time travel more than Nefarious (and knowing that if Nefarious succeeded, everyone would die and existence would be torn asunder) is that he was banking on the idea that Dr. Nefarious - loud idiot that he is - was going to lose no matter what, so his team-up with him was essentially to gather as much data on the Zoni as possible while making some money on the side by selling some criminals his Zoni research. Sell research to Nefarious, make bank on his stolen coin, get opportunity to go inside Zoni territory including the Great Clock, and get closer to the Zoni than ever possible. Win-win.
Is this absolutely underhanded? Absolutely, but he doesn't care. He's one of the most intelligent people in the world! And you don't get anywhere by picking fights with the universe that you cannot win. It's all about biding your time and making the small victories here and there.
In other words, he's more of a "I serve my own interests" type of dude rather than good or evil, but is kinda mundanely bad in his own way, what the whole "casual speciesism" and "ruthless capitalism" thing he has going on.
