I think Tobii may have digested the last of Dallas' patience with how he noms him occasionally. So in their past especially their childhood, Tobii had quite an extravagant eating streak back when he was a mere cyndaquil and more so as a quilava. This was even before he discovered all of his true potential (like his limited shapeshifting due to his status). Occasionally, he'd nom Dallas or some of his other team mates but Dallas was the one mainly against this. This couldn't be helped since Tobii is almost always a hungry boi.

He's been nommed so much and seen his team do so much gulps to the point where he is kind of losing his mind. Is he gonna join them? Or go crazy?

Tobii during this mishap happened to be pretty hungry and he really wanted Dallas to join the buizel fray. So... he ended up gulping down Dallas as Dallas was pretty upset. The two gals of his team also wanted in and it got to this point soon after.
