Tracked down

This job went from bad to worse near instantly. What started as a simple 'track down and subdue' had developed into a full fledged hunt. Wepwawet is a member of the Guard, dispatched by the Pharaoh himself (praise be) to protect the sands of the homeworld and sometimes those missions took him far from home. This one certainly had. It began only three systems from Cairopia and now he was in some rat hole. This place perhaps was hell. A colony world long left abandoned due to astrological catastrophes ranging from micrometeor impacts all the way up to gravitational fluxes. Frankly Wepwawet couldn't have told anyone the name of this place beyond a colony designation, as no one had bothered to record it beyond that and the word “uninhabitable”. All it is now amounted to a hiding spot for a terrorist responsible for an embassy bombing. The electrical storms had played havoc on everything Wepwawet had, from his shuttle's landing lights to his cybernetic eyes which enjoyed failing and leaving him with the mundane normal look of the world. He'd resorted to leaving them off in this flooded hellscape. Two weeks planet side, tracking through knee high water at the shallowest and deep enough he could see altitude antennae at eye level the deepest, he'd found his man. The Hound of the Pharoah had tracked down his mark and for far too long had he been denied his satisfaction. He'd cornered the man at an old suburban neighborhood, miraculously intact due to the slot machine of variables coming up with sevens for this small couple mile span of insignificance. Wepwawet had grown tired of the game. His legs hurt, his suit was ruined, his eyes weren't working, and he missed the pyramids and sun of his home. He took out a cigarette as he watched this fumbling terrorist attempt to open the door to a house so desperately Wepwawet worried for a moment he'd throw his back out. His cigarette lit without problem in the pouring rain and he stood there for a moment watching the helpless man flounder. He took a long drag and exhaled as he looked into the sky, relishing for a moment that technology had come so far that he could smoke in a place like this. The sound of wood on wood brought his attention back down as the terrorist had begin smacking the door with a piece of driftwood and Wepwawet decided his time was at an end. He drew his pistol and fired a single round into the sky, breaking the rain ruined silence with the crack of powder detonation. Lightning stuck in the distance behind him and Wepwawet spoke softly to the man. “You can die here or come with me to face justice. Either way this dance is done.” Then the thunder hit, shaking the world to its unstable core as the unflinching hand of the Pharaoh and a would-be foreign interloper stood off.
