Go Go Gophers shirt idea roughs
I'm working out some loose roughs for a new shirt on my Teepublic site https://www.teepublic.com/user/atu-and-kupu?utm_source=designer&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=mA77Y6qa4cc
Oddly enough, the Commander McBragg design is our best seller, and that was an idea I came up with, That Richard scoffed "Thats too old and forgotten, nobody will buy that!!" Surprise!!
And while roughing out plans for a new Jonny Quest design, featuring Doctor Zin, I thought up another oldie but goodie.
The Go Go Gophers.
Today, that show would never air, despite the Gopher Indians winning each and every time, thanks to WOKEness, and Cultural Appropriation Nazis screaming at unfairness and stereotyping.
So who knows, maybe this will sell as well.
The original show was part of the UnderDog show, in the late 60s, usually 4-5 minute episodes where Col. Kit Coyote, backed up by Sergeant Okey Homa, locked horns with Chief Running Board and Ruffled Feather. The Colonel was clearly based off Teddy Roosevelt by his voice, glasses and mustache.
Just roughs, but something to play with in design.

Heh, I always thought the Col. was a TR type - my brother used to remark on that too when I watched Underdog . That show, Super Chicken and the Mighty Heros were our faves . Loved Commander McBragg and Fractured Fairy Tales - funny how the short segments were better than the main cartoons at times.
I love the cartoon. But you are correct, they fact that the GoGo Gophers actually win and make fools of the Calvary officers will be totally lost on the monorail minds of today who will only see that they're Indians.. err Native American stereotypes. They won't even realize the army officers are stereotypes too.
Pity, it was fun watching the gophers run circles around the Calvary often using their own rules against them.

The Sergeant was more sympathetic as a voice of reason as opposed to the stubborn blustery Colonel Coyote. One would think The Sergeant probably negotiated with the Gopher Natives fairly in secret to get a truce to clean up the mess the Colonel caused. The cartoons were amusing and the Gophers were sympathetic. This cartoon was broadcast at the time prime time Westerns were plentiful and popular, of course.
