This series features my new banjo-ukulele or, as it is sometimes called a banjolele. It is constructed like a small banjo, but strung and tuned like a concert sized ukulele.
I was super happy to get the sunlight glinting off the frets of my new banjolele. There are several manufacturers supplying this type of instrument. As the owner of two other Kala ukes, I was comfortable with the brand and fell in love with the antique brass hardware.
Don’t confuse the banjo head for the headstock. The banjo head is similar to a drum head and helps amplify and transfer the vibrations of the strings to the surrounding air. The headstock (next photo) is the flat part at the end of the neck that the tuning pegs pass through.
