Spider Family Tree and Relationship Chart
I got tired of constantly having to establish relationships between my 12 spider family characters so I made this quick cute little chart. Still tummy sick somethin' fierce but I hope y'all like it!
Also included their romantic + sexual orientations and gender statuses for fun!
Some "fun facts" I couldn't fit on here or couldn't express as easily:
• Quinn used IVF to get pregnant with their five kids from four different donors. Only Anhri and Turing have the same donor father.
• Anhri and Turing are on the autism spectrum. Jax is also sort of autistic, but his is a function of his species rather than a deviation from the norm. Hyun-Jin and Kaashi have ADHD.
• As for religions, they're all atheists except for August who practices and believes in a bit of a mixture of New Orleans Voodoo / Hoodoo that's been on both sides of his family for generations (which mostly culminates in superstitions and being a fraidy cat in the presence of anything supposedly supernatural). Gretchen is a secular Jewish person who honestly doesn't involve herself much in the community anymore because her step-mom gave her an excess amount of religious trauma.
• Despite their being 6 spiders in a 12 person family, only Kaashi and Nabii have traditional spider names that come from their homeland.
• Every spider baby but Hendrix, and his partner Gretchen, grow up to have kids. The spider grandbabies are all developed but I refuse to open that Pandora's box and bring them to life because that adds literally so many characters to obsess about and I am trying my best not to go full bag o' peanuts. So they remain in text only unless commissioned. Anhri adopts a child in her outreach amputee program named Emma. Hyun-Jin and August adopt 5 children: Shawn, Aimee, Booker, Renee, and Quincy). Turing and Cherry have three possum sons through IVF: Roosevelt, Louis, and Nikola. And of course Kaashi and Nabii end up with four sons, two sets of twins: Naambi and Nahriit ; Kimbii and Kaaski. Dumb silly fact, though. There is a ridiculous AU where Hendrix and Gretchen did have a child through IVF, a teeny tiny spaniel named Odette or "Oddball" as they lovingly dub her.
• If we are being absolutely technical, Quinn has had another child, but I didn't include it because it's far too sad and because that baby has no design to show. Quinn was attacked by a serial killer a week before her delivery date for her first child, and the child did not survive. The baby died still in its egg, so its face was never seen, so not even Quinn knows what her baby looked like. The donor father to that egg was never used again, per Quinn's request. That was back when Quinn was married to her first husband, looked entirely different, and went by a different name. Though Quinn never made it official, she dubbed the child as 'Magnolia', almost exclusively to herself. Because spiders birth eggs that gestate and hatch in several months, baby Magnolia is technically classified as a miscarriage.
• The antagonistic relationships are: Jax to Cherry, because Cherry makes very inappropriate jokes about Turing's sex life and doesn't know when to always keep it clean. Also because Cherry openly fawns over the other spider women in the family, and Jax is rather humorless about it. Nabii to both Gretchen and Hendrix. There's a lot of complicated reasons behind why Nabii hates Hendrix, most of it is trauma Hendrix never caused. But her hatred of Gretchen seems to be because of a few misunderstandings wherein she believes Gretchen to be trying to seduce Kaashi (even though it's clearly not what happened lol). Hendrix and Cherry butt heads because Cherry flirts with Gretchen a lot and Hendrix is a lot like his dad and doesn't appreciate the "harmless" fun. But also cause Cherry gives him way too much gross info on his sister he never wanted to know, even if Cherry is just joking around. And Anhri to Hendrix, but that's a long-standing one-sided sibling rivalry. Anhri never really got over being dethroned by Hendrix as a child, who she views as directionless and lazy and vapid for the longest time, and the two just have totally different personalities, ideologies, and interests. This is eventually worked through when they are much older, but because it's such a long standing rivalry it's included. While there are some years that Anhri and Gretchen have an antagonistic relationship (entirely Anhri's fault) I didn't include it because it is eventually worked through and solved.
