Schwarzpelz - Chapter 6 - Part 29
Second to last page of the chapter, hooray, we're getting there~
Also this page took much longer than it had any right to xd I mean from a progression standpoint it's nice that I can
do a page like that in a day, but I would have loved to do another, that's kind of the expectation I wanna have from myself.
BUT I also need to realize this was a very big, detailled panel in the end and that me from a few years ago wouldn't have been
able to finish this in two days plus it would have looked way worse probably, soooo still proud of what I made today~
Anyway, one more page and the chapter is over, one more very big panel, then I can relax a bit at the start of chapter 7 xd
Hope you still like it

The same way that the Drifter's sister (her name's Chakka, BTW) got so big: Using a Driftfruit when you are a Drifter yourself and have not done so already in your lifetime turns you into a very large feral animal. The size of the final form corresponds to the number of "cores", or those small circles/spheres in the fruit. Chakka's fruit had just one.
Schwarzi's had ten.
Schwarzi's had ten.
I get the feeling that it won't be so simple, Schwarzi... as unfortunate as it may be, your own fate is linked to that of the tree. After all, without the tree, your parents don't become Drifters, you don't become the Guardian, and you don't gain the Collector, which means you can't make the wish, and therefore the tree grows anyways. It's a massive Grandfather's Paradox situation. Even if it works, you've essentially just abandoned your old timeline, leaving it with no Guardian in your position, meaning a big power vacuum exists.
And supposing it's more than 5000 years old? Then you'll have just erased time for no good reason, and pain will still be caused, by your own metric.
Sometimes, the past shouldn't be changed... but that doesn't mean that one shouldn't at least try, and it definitely doesn't mean that you can't use that wish to mitigate the damage that the tree does. You just have to apply your thinking differently...

Why do you people always forget there are multiple methods to handle timetravel? The grandfather paradox is only one such method, one of the others is the timeline split method where he goes back, does the thing, spawns a brand new timeline entirely but doesn't do jack shit to the timeline he came from.
That is one HELL of a wish and I love it! What a goal! No wonder he needs so much power. But it's also one of those things that undoes everything GOOD, too...are we looking at a Samurai Jack bittersweet series finale?
Oh, jeez, and the possibility of a scene where everybody's in crisis and Schwarz just needs that one last sacrifice to make the wish a reality...that could be a serious tearjerker. Especially since it feels like Schwarz has implied that he's on a time limit of some sort, for some reason.
Or maybe the journey is that Schwarz learns to recognize the good and take it with the bad...man, this could go anywhere.

That is not a good wish... at least not used like that anyway. Maybe wish that the tree never grew to begin with? But if it never grew, he never becomes what his his, and thus never can make the tree not grow... so kinda a paradox. Hmm this is a tough one. How to more or less rewind time on the tree, keep it from growing, and not adversely effect yourself or others doing it is a tall order!
So he wants to erase the current world so it can be reborn "normal" ?
Mh... i understand his wish and the reasons behind it, but i fear it will cause a quite bad time paradox that will affect not only him, but the rest of the world too >.>
We shall wait and see how it goes... it kinda make me think he will end up becoming the villain in all this since i don't think Cherry, Chakka and the rest of the characters will agree with his plan... after all it basically means destroying the world and all the people that lives in it ><"

the lost-father plot is gonna much certantly change this big objective, in a way Schwarzi grew up from his fierce past, as far as we know he'll get to a point where to decide what to sacrifice between the lives of many (the ones who suffered from the devil fruit) and something really important to cherry and her father I guess
This reminds me of a time travel conversation in the game "Virtue's Last Reward". It's a bit long and involved to get into in detail, but the gist of it is that even if you have the ability to undo a terrible tragedy in the past, do you go through with it at the risk of erasing/overwriting everyone who's alive right now? It may not be the ideal world you would prefer to live in, but they all have their own stories, and their lives have value. If you succeeded in changing their past, then you would be invalidating everything that they ever did to satisfy your own whim.
And THAT'S just if we're dealing with a one-timeline situation here. If it causes a timeline split then okay, Schwarzi gets his treeless world and whatever emerges from that with 5,000 years of divergent history. But the timeline that we've been observing continues on, unchanged by his wish.

So THAT is why he does it. =0
And he noms people because he is collecting the power to be able to make the biggest wish he can make and wish the tree out of existence. =0
Though: If he did that, would that basically also mean that he would never meet the girls and their parents and also that all the good he has done with his fur and all did not happen? And what if his wish would not affect him and he would continue to be a giant fluff even after the wish? Or what if he would disappear as well from the world and never be born in the new reality? And what if there would be 2 of him in the world? 1 human & 1 fluff. Or what if the tree is there to seal something away, and the fruits are accidental by products of the seal? O.o

Wouldn't it be better to change the nature of the tree so the drift fruit won't cause a change in fallowing generations rather than change the course of history to a unknown erasing the people that live in the present. However Schwarzpelz will likely realize this at the last minute and chose to save the present rather than trying to fix the past.
I just can't say something interesting about story x)
Like, Schwarzpelz wants to prevent everything, okay. He burdened by his past and this world's history. He are over 1000 years old, and i'm sure he considered options with altering Tree's nature, or destroying it "here and now". If he were driven by selfishness, he'd wished to resurrect his family (like, you planning to reverse 5000 years of history, so why you can't resurrect the ones who you lost and back to old self?), but no - he wishes exactly nip everything in the bud, prevent all these cataclysms and suffering. So this means that he knows exactly what he is doing, and that there is no other way.
